Kings and Generals animated historical documentary series on modern warfare the Great War and the Ottoman history during the World War I. Previously we covered the Rise of the Ottoman Empire from the humble beginnings as a small Turkic Beylik to the Fall of Constantinople 1453 covering all the major battles including ( and the reign of Mehmet II (. By 1916, the Ottoman Empire was fighting for survival across the Middle East. Russia’s Caucasus Army smashed through Erzurum, seized Trabzon, and drove deep into eastern Anatolia, forcing the Ottomans to gamble on a desperate counteroffensive with Mustafa Kemal’s Gallipoli veterans. Meanwhile, Britain was still reeling from Gallipoli and the surrender at Kut, but in the Sinai the defense of Romani stopped the Ottoman advance toward the Suez Canal and opened the road to Palestine. As railways, pipelines, mounted columns, and desert logistics reshaped the front, the war entered a new phase. At the same time, Sharif Hussein of Mecca launched the Arab Revolt. With British gold, naval support, artillery, and the arrival of T. E. Lawrence, the rebellion spread through Hejaz, capturing Mecca, Jeddah, Taif, and Yanbu while threatening the Ottoman grip on Arabia. This episode follows the turning point of 1916: Russia’s victories in the Caucasus, Britain’s recovery in Sinai, and the revolt that began to undermine Ottoman power from within. From mountain warfare to desert cavalry charges and guerrilla raids along the Hejaz Railway, the Ottoman front was no longer holding steady anywhere, and the road to Baghdad and Palestine was finally opening in deadly earnest now.

And for saving the Brit and French bacon in the Middle East, the brave trusting Arabs got betrayal and Sykes-Picot!
0:40 It should be called The British Insurgency
The Arab revolt and Sharif Hussein in particular is a very interesting case study in the naivete of people, he made a deal which involved him committing to a cause, doing 100% percent of his part of the deal, and after that expecting that the other side will somehow "honor" the arrangement afterwards.
In politics, it is generally not a very good idea to make a deal where you make a one time payment in exchange of an on-going commitment from the other side, cause the other side can simply change their mind after you're fulfilled your side of the bargain.
Besides, the Ottomans, bad as they were in the end towards the Arabs, were nonetheless closer to them culturally, ethnically and religiously than the British, it is mind-boggling to me that the Sharif was so naive to believe that the British ever had any intent of honoring their side of the bargain, the lesson is, never betray your kin for strangers cause the stranger will never, ever have your interest in mind no matter what shiny promises they make you.
Title suggestion, The Arab Betrayal – How the European Powers colonize the Middle East
Alternate title: How Hussein and his lizard eating, camel piss drinking Neandarthal horde enabled the creation of Israel.
If you lament the destruction of Palestine, Hussein's tomb is in Jerusalem. Life can be deliciously ironic..
cool
20:48 “The only thing that could stop the Russians would be an internal crisis.” Nice foreshadowing
Funny watching how competent and almost unstoppable the ottomans are in the other videos compared to this lol
They betrayed ottmans and Britain betrayed them😂
Sharif of Mecca got greedy, betray the caliphate and Allah punished him by getting betrayed by his very own ally
Good riddance.
Even today, it is still said in Türkiye: It turns out there were more traitors in Gaza than grains of sand…
2026 and we're still calling it Arab Revolt? Calling as such is a misnomer and part of British Empire narrative to make it appear as such.
Better to call it Hashemite Revolt as majority of Arabs did not revolt.
The Arabs were traitor!
In fact, a Hungarian Jew created an ethnic divide in the Ottoman Empire by establishing Pan-Turkism, and the British took advantage of this and got their share!!! The problem is the tribal and Stone Age thinking of the Turks and Arabs.
What historical event should everyone learn about?
As a Turk, i want to speak from my heart. This video has been a emotional rollercoaster for me even after it got finished, i couldb't stop thinking. Before clicking on it, i knew it would leave a bitter taste after it but it also had times of me with laughter those revolting Arabs incircling Turkish troops me watching them knowing they are making their worst decision of their lives and history even tough i was also saddened by the loss of Turkish lives. I got angry at a point where i couldn't comprehend how could these Turkish soldiers could surrender so easily with no effort whatsoever and than i calmed down and understood they were Arabian conscripts fighting in our army because no Turkish soldier would surrender that easily when confronted with the enemy. I saw the Palestinian flag for revolt against us in the photos that killed Turkish soldiers under that banner and i said there it is.
Even tough we share a belief system Us Turks never really liked Arabians and were racist against them which were even embedded to our proverbs and songs many times. We don't share an ethical values, we don't live the same way, our cultures are different, our views on the world, on life are completely different and are not compatible. They probably feel the same way against us. We ruled over them in justice and peace for centuries and they stabbed us in the back with Britian when we called a holy war against them and they killed and murdered massecered our Turkish soldiers. Our founders of our republic swore that not even one more drop of Turkish blood would be spilled for Arabian deserts.
Everyone knows how much have ancestors of Arabians that revolted against us have suffered through 100 years after we left. Even as a nation who has been living in peace and security and relative prosperouty for a 100 years. Even just watching the death, misery, poverty, destruction gives me agony beyond scales. An even sometimes pity what those people have been going through. Should i say Us Turks have been watching Arabia while eating popcorns and with laughter for 100 years? Should i say i smirked while reading all the Arabian comments that reggetted and admitted their nations irreversible mistake? I am 30 year old Turk and i today understand the meaning of: "Revenge is a dinner, cold served."
As a Turk and my cultures noble history i wanted to save innocent Palestinians, babies, children and people and wanted to be seen and dreamt the possibility of being seen as a Turkish cavalry who were their nations in savior from a genocide even tough they traited against us and kilked and murdered and did many atrocities to our soldiers. That's the nobility of act that runs through my veins. Palestinian people probably most of them don't even want to be saved by Turkish rule which they proudly revolted against us years ago in their nations history.
But i cannot forget or forgive what my ancestors went through 100 years ago. Even tough i am not religious and not a muslim anymore, i fear of the Turkish martyrs died there in agony could rise up from their graves and choke me to death until i die. I fear so much of doing any wrong to their memory i fear the possibility of a after life that they are going to haunt me if i betray their memory.
Least i can do is to stop saying they got what they deserved betraying us Turks which were protecting them under our rule. Now i realise none of todays living are responsible for their ancestors crimes or mistakes if they dont share the same views as them.
But I can promise as a member of the noble Turkish nation, if you want us to returned and be saved our flag is relatively easy. White moon and a star on red which represents the bloods we have spilled from our martyrs to that flag. Wave it and we will ride through hell to save you while risking our own lives.
How the Arabs revolted, only to become the slaves of Israel😢
You know this is an old video because Devin sounds so stiff and sounds like he's doing a class powerpoint presentation
you absolutely deserve a like
No Arabs Revolution it's Arab betrayals We know it 😒 and Now Arabs not supported himself for example it's Palestine 🗿
immensely Depresing to see the Fall of an empire that united the muslims,
But Indeed, everything happens with Allah's wisdom. & and that we are proud of the great resistance of the otttomans, and ashamed at the lack of disunity of muslims.
Arabs pledging 100.000 for a revolt, but merely a few thousand for the imperial army, that is fighting against the westerners 'non believers'. This reflects the current state of these puppet arab states too.
Good thing no internal revolts would happen in Russia any time soon…….
Excelente vídeo. Un detalle de información muy bueno. Saludos
Mass deportation right now
One of the most tragic events of Islamic history. May persians arabs turks Indians africans malays and all nations be united together under the banner of islam
The real answer was judea and british…now the arabs cry for help
I came for the Arab Revolt, but it only starts @15:18 , meaning towards the end of the video, which is weird.
Algorithm comment 😊
the ottomans taxed every fruit tree, legalised homosexuality and were always at war

“it is hard to be a Turk, because you had to fight whit the Turks, but it is harder to not be a Turk, because you will fight whit the Turks”
Can you add the audio in Turkish?
Man the difference of the ruskies dealing with the germans and ottomans!
