my grandpa was in the spanish navy and even shook hands with franko
Anti-Communist Hero forced to do the same thing we are forced to do with Marxist in the US present day if need be. Socialism must be crushed wherever it Festers.
Francisco the Hero.
What is missing is a discussion of the "red terror" in the 1930s. Franco's actions were not simply a power grab. The left had committed massive atrocities, including the killing of 7000 priests and nuns.
Franco practically was Fascist.
Watching this realizing I was lied to about Franco
Francisco Franco, just like AH, tried to save his people from communism. He was a man of honor and courage. Fascism>Communism.
A great military and world statrsman
Europa braucht dringend solche .
Don't forget spain gold reserves were taken by the republic to russia
Ceuta melilla and the canary islands would never would go to morocco
The republic committed many crimes screw the reds
Why don't u mention guernica was a target because has munitions factories
Franco is often demonized, but I think he had the best intentions for Spain. Look how corrupt the current socialist government of Spain is and how much incompetence they display.
23:08 The Spanish Civil War is another one of those wars that have no good guys, just fascists against communists, or collectivists against slightly different collectivists, while people who thought like me, liberalists and individualists, could but leave the country or try to weather the storm without joining a side.

Viva franco
It’s lovely to hear a foreigner pronouncing Spanish place names correctly, as close as possible.
Great man, saved Spain from Communism,Nazi and Soviet occupation.
Franco last message shows his great love for Spain and the Spanish people.
How does one forget what another person has done? One forgives. It does not excuse, or say it is all right what crimes a person committed. Franko used what he could to get what he wanted. A little mixing with Hitler, who killed millions, to do fighting in Spain. When civil war ended, he changed his mind. It was good seeing how Hitler kept his word with Russia. He punished those who fought against him. Oh, and the children. This guy was all out for himself.
I had a colleague from Spain once. He emigrated to the US as a young adult and spent his childhood and early adulthood while Gen. Franco was still in power. He had fond memories of the time, but this would have been during the Spanish Miracle era, so take it for what it's worth. For my part? As far as I know Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead.
In contributing the Division Azul to the Eastern Front during World War II, Franco repaid the Axis for the help he and his side received from them during the Spanish Civil War. In not becoming a fully fledged member of the Axis, Franco did his greatest service to his nation, something that you fail to emphasize in this documentary… there probably would have been no Spanish economic miracle had he been bent upon the North African conquests he probably entertained early in the war. This was a good documentary in spite of its' overemphasis on "the economy" and a certain lack of historical balance that other commentators have already brought up.
This video is remarkable for viewing in the US market, as from a serious TV viewer, the subjects of 20th Century Spain with its civil war, along with Franco, were noticeable voids with TV's "History Channel;" "Biography Channel;" and from PBS-TV . . . all three priding themselves with offerings of historical TV programs.
Yet, Spain and Franco were profound subjects in the run-up to World War II; the war itself; and the aftermath with the Cold War.
All you franco fans don't you know that most Spanish went hungry under his evil rule
After all, he got away with all those atrocicities.

A patriot
My opinion is that a very small number of individuals can make such a transformation, but I think in his case: once a thug always a thug. It's similar to once a dog seriously bites a human, then the dog is almost guaranteed to bite again
While I am not excusing his child relocation of communists, clearly he had a hatred of communism with fuelled this.
I can understand his opposition to communism, it is the worst of all political ideologies in my opinion and the most dishonest and insidious in the modern day, specifically in Europe.
What about Hitler? Well I think if a communist leader hated a specific demographic as much as Hitler did, it would obviously be the same result.
36:00 you communist don’t trick these ppl into thinking they need rights
