lol. Erhhhh 😂😂😂 I am African. This is a very simplistic naive narrow view of the abolishment of slavery. I suspect framed this way as a ‘feel-good’ validation for ur audience.
1) It was the French Revolutionaries that started the push for the abolishment of slavery. their vision was a Labour over capital, and slavery was a problem for that model.
2) Then the British deployed their ships to stop all slaving efforts on the Atlantic (mainly to give Napoleon the middle finger as retribution for his continental treaty – the ‘don’t trade with Britain’ treaty).
3) William pushed to make it law and succeeded. William was the last person in the fight for slavery but he was instrumental.
Slavery was really ‘abolished’ by the French revolutionaries (causing mayhem for slavers on the Atlantic) and The British Navy on the Atlantic (way before the subject was a parliamentary discussion) .
Attributing the abolishment of slavery to just him in this grandeur is delusional. Maybe you should ask Africans about African history.
AMAZING Wilberforce was dead and 80 MPs that owned slaves borrowed 20 million pounds off the Rothchild Bank and paid themselves compensation which today would have been in the Billions and freed their slaves. The debt to the Rothchilds was paid off finally in 2015. 😂😂
So informative and very beautifully narrated! Outstanding video in every respect.
Thanks!
William Wilberforce was a man who made Great Britain truly Great. Sorry, to see what Britain has become today.
Wait!! Let her get the democratic nomination first!!
Brits should be so proud of this history. Slavery was accepted across the globe for generations before Wilverforce made this his mission. That the citizenry ended up in support is a real testament to the best British character.
It sounds as if profiteering lives on today through Big Pharma.enslaving a different group of people with RK jnr being today’s Wilberforce.
Slavery is thousands of years old. All colours and creeds were used as slaves.
W illiam Wilberforce was sent by God for a mission which he carried out to the best of his ability. Amazingly i was thinking about the works of this great man not too long ago so it wonderful to see this documentary which gave me even a better understanding of his amazing work. May God give him eternal Rest
i understand and see the force, but what does mean wilber ,-)
Willberforce was indeed a hero.
Hero. Getting late and I must get to bed, but hero, definitely.
Thank God for William Wilberforce. The bible says : Acts 17:26
and hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;. The Almighty never created different races of man. There is only one, the human race. The Lord allowed different complexions, cultures and a variation of knowledge. However, the family of Man was indeed, in the eyes of God, one family. For one nation to enslave members of another was and is a great sin against God who created them , as well as against their fellow man.
Wilberforce … Incredible !
When a generation isn't catechized, instructed and educated properly it can only lead to destruction , anarchy and annihilation for the next generation . Sad real sad an absolute horror story
This was a good man.
Unfortunately, slavery continues to this day and is most concentrated in Asia and the Pacific (over 30 million people), followed by Africa (7 million). According to the most recent comprehensive data from the 2023 Global Slavery Index (GSI) by Walk Free.
He is a hero
I read that slavery in Britain was abolished by William the Conqueror in 1066.
Being raised British I had heard of this man but until now I had no idea. Is this man the most important person in the movement to abolish slavery in the west ?
William wilberfirce was a true Christian, obedient to his savior, Jesus Christ.
Anthony Johnson first slave owner in the USA.
Oh yes,forgot.
He was a BLACK man.
Such an amazing story and an amazing man in many ways however not sure why he kept so much well while trying to help the poor but maybe I am not understanding how it was at that time still amazing man
He was VERY SHORT AND UGLY…
