Despite potential downside risk, gold prices may move higher and not because of inflation but rather because of deflationary pressure, this according to one of the Silver & Gold Summit keynote speakers Frank Curzio. He told Kitco News he even expects rate hikes to work in gold favour.

I completely agree that the ENVIRONMENT is deflationary and I don't see that changing too much in the near term, but I think that when inflationary fears are completely dead and buried, the fiscal/monetary moves to spur inflation will make 2008/9 look like child's play, which will make the environment irrelevant…
