Two men who participated in the 44-day Artsakh war, announced an indefinite hunger strike in Yerevan’s Freedom Square today.
The Armenian Report had an opportunity to interview the two war heroes today and Nver Kirakosyan and Arthur Avagyan said it does not matter to them who started the strike. What matters to them is to support Artsakh and not allow Azerbaijan’s demands to be met.
“A few days ago the statement of the Artsakh National Assembly was made, we are trying to respond to that statement with an adequate action. It is not enough to make an announcement on Facebook. Homeland and patriotism demands equivalence. We are here, not as individuals, but as the embodiment of concern,” said Avagyan.
Kirakosyan emphasized that if the cause of the problems in the country is the government, then they are not afraid to say that there should be a change of government, according to their observation, the government’s speech is about concessions.
“Today we are concerned, we are not extremists, but the situation is extreme, if this is to be qualified as an extremist step, it is dictated by this situation. Our problem is the carelessness of the representatives of our generation in these conditions, with this step we aim to take a step from a state of carelessness to concern. Everyone should understand what their practical step is, our practical step to the current situation is this. In fact, it’s call,” said Kirakosyan, who is on an indefinite hunger strike.
