To end the blood tribute, Theseus volunteers as a sacrifice to the Minotaur. He promises his father, Aegeus, to change the black sails to white if he returns alive. In Crete, the lovestruck Ariadne gives him a thread so he won’t get lost in the Labyrinth. Theseus kills the beast and flees with the princess, but, coerced by the god Dionysus, abandons her on the island of Naxos. Shaken, the hero forgets to change the sails. Seeing the mourning ship, Aegeus throws himself into the sea in despair. Theseus returns triumphant, but his failure gives its name to the Aegean Sea and marks the tragic beginning of his reign.

Oh look it’s the only actually heroic thing Theseus ever did.
Hail Ariadne!
It's a story of Jesus in symbolism and allegory told in mythology. 😂
The ball of yarn Ariadne gave Theseus is known as a “clew” in this story.
