You will be shocked by what happened to this man. He was a slave, became a Roman centurion (something strictly forbidden for a slave), retired years later, and finally, became a slave again. This man’s name was Claudius Pacatus. We are going to understand how he managed to do the impossible under Roman law and why, years later, he returned to slavery.
