the Spartan had the simal system where if you want your own armor and weapon, you would have to pay for own pocker and what worst that you had to be a full blood spartan to buy it, if you wasn't they won't sell to you and by the end the same system they be have for years, it the same reason it their downfall
💛 all your video's mate👍.
Today modern military it's just like the Roman military everything you were given you had to take care of. All the gear that was given to me I had to take care of it, while the only replacement that they give us funding for was new uniforms. And don't get me wrong they take it out of our pay at boot camp because what are we going to buy in boot camp.
What kind of armor would I choose? No. I don't think there is a reality where I have the ballz to be a Roman Soldier. I proudly served in the US Coast Guard. But I'm be interested in hearing what our Marines would choose.
I never thought about it before, but there must have been a real industry in salvaging gear, armor, and weapons after any battle. They must have had rules (formal or informal) about how that worked, but "acquiring" better gear, or spare gear from those who didn't need it was probably a feverish concern for the average legionnaire. If you had a spare helmet, or pila, and a shield, things likely to be damaged and need replacing, it would be a boon to have a spare set ready rather than getting your pay docked to replace it.
Rachel reeves will be taxing this come the 27th
Obvs Kier Starmer and Zohran Mamdani wasn’t there to give away free armour!!
