Rejecting the safety of the sea, Theseus chooses the dangerous overland route to prove his worth. He purifies the path by facing brutal villains like Periphetes, Cercyon, and the sadistic Procrustes, as well as the Crommyonian Sow. Upon arriving in Athens, he faces a silent danger: the sorceress Medea, who manipulates King Aegeus into poisoning the youth. At the crucial moment, Aegeus recognizes the sword Theseus is carrying, prevents his son’s death, and banishes the sorceress. Father and son finally unite, and Theseus is acclaimed as the rightful heir of Athens.
