You're just hyping up the trade that will happen to me. I don't need Giannis anymore; they can win without him. If the trade about Giannis happens, it's done. Let's say they become a Contender Champion if Giannis is in the Spurs lineup, but Giannis also has an injury history, similar to AD. What if both Giannis and Wemby are out of the lineup simultaneously? How will they back-to-back lose? No denying the trade for Giannis to the Spurs, if Wemby is healthy, the entire Spurs team knows they can compete with strong teams. So stop the trade for Giannis. They have Harper's second-round pick, and their playing skills are gradually developing. Add them with Castle/Vassel/Champagnie/KJ/Barnes/The 4th Clutch De'Aaron Fox.
There is and will be no conflict between the point guards who need to take turns scoring points, because they are not just point guards. You have to score points to beat your opponents, and you can never have too many. Plus, they are not the same type of players, especially Castle, who is an excellent defender, while the other two are more like ball stealers.
You're nice, you love speculating about this and that. Spurs don't need anyone in particular, just maybe a good three-point shooter. The hard work is starting to pay off, the young players are good and they're improving. We'll see in March how it all turns out, but it feels like the team is already competitive. Sure, they still lack a bit of stability for the playoffs, to get past OKC, but they're on their way. You have to understand that Castle is an organizer, a stabilizer. Fox and Harper are pretty similar, they're dynamite players, one with one hand, the other with both hands. They're not real organizers, even though they're brilliant players.
The Spurs really have a very good team, but the question is not whether Giannis should come or not. The question is, with this good team they have, can they beat the Thunder? No. Because the Thunder are both champions and have thousands of picks. So you look at how you will win the championship and not how you will become good.
Lets take a discount on Zion instead
Harper, Fox and Castle have all shown they can coexist in the Spurs rotation. As far as I am concerned Wemby, Castle, Harper and Fox are untradeable. Guys that would hurt my feelings to get rid of but could go are Champagnie and Keldon. Everyone else is on the table. Obviously joking, but cant we give the Bucks any combination of Bismak, Ingram, Waters, Minix, Olynyk, throw in some cash and any picks they want and call it a day? 😋
No need to mortgage a bright future for win now, that also doesn't pan out often. We already know the clippers did and dozens of teams before them (Brooklyn twice, Milwuakee with Dame, etc). It honestly rarely works out beyond 1-2 years. We are on the OKC trajectory but 2 or so years behind and have all our picks plus other teams. That is huge and important for retooling the team on cost controlled young players.
And Castle isn't a PG. He has a role as a facilitator and driver but I don't think PG is in his future aside from covering in necessary spots.
I think Spurs can pull it off by the value of the draft picks we have. Plus adding Devin, Keldon, Harrison, Kelly with 4 1st round picks.
No other team can offer the value of picks as we do. Yes other teams might have one star player but they picks ( if they have picks ) are not as valuable as what the Spurs have. Question is how much value 🤔 do we feel the picks are. They can be some great further stars 🌟 which is what the Bucks need to rebuild and get some great players. 2nd Question is if the deal happen…. what the status of the roster 😳 but I'm excited to see David Jones Garcia getting more playing time. But I do see the Spurs making this work with the picks they have available.
The mistake made by those not named Jeff in this video is over-estimating how much Giannis improves winning potential. It treats the results as near guaranteed instead of a large boost. So you have a couple years of very likely, with minimal uncertainty about potential, versus the clear upside of Harper and or Castle (this is the entire premise of the deal being balanced!) of being very likely (but with higher future uncertainty) summed over a much longer time period. The chance of a dynasty is maximized by not trading because if that was not the case, the trade involving Giannis for talent with massive upside potential would not be balanced!
Also, because Giannis is currently the substantially better player, it becomes his team and not Wemby's. Wemby's development is not maximized during the period of a win-now team. He still has a lot of mistakes to work out of his system. Yet, in a win-now team his leash would be much shorter. Wemby is also not maximized as primarily a perimeter player despite being willing and the potential to hit 36-38% during that short period. Wemby's upside is no less than GOAT. You can't apply normal "can't throw away this opportunity" to the developmental timeline when someone that has a legit chance of eclipsing Jordan, Lebron and Jokic is involved.
Honestly, I'd say we should help a lesser team pursue Giannis. Image we help the pelicans get him and we get a Barnes like return. Give us Herb Jones and we give a first and a player.
The team is fine as is sure we could use a 3 & D IMO but getting Giannis would just tear the team apart beyond repair than when he’s gone than what we start over again no thanks hard pass
13:06 yea agreed on all points. Wemby hasn't proven to be healthy yet. Future is more questionable than we are accepting. Wemby is great but injuries should be a significant concern.
Not for it. We are already good. He's 31. Keep our draft picks and continue the build. Buying Giannis contract and trading away Harper or Castle sounds like the LA Clippers trading SGA to the Thunder. We all know how that worked out.
I like Markkanen who's. a legit 7-footer and a perimeter threat and fill a hole in the lineup. I think a Giannis trade would decimate the team.
We would have to get at least 2 spots on the roster because Giannis needs at least one of his brothers with him. Giannis is a great player but i'm not sure if the fit between Fox Vic and him is that good
if there are only two suitors equipped to make a legitimate trade where it is between the thunder and the Spurs, then we tactically need to sway Giannis our way away from the thunder. He wants to come here anyway. It’s just another chip on the table that we have to address. At the core of Wemby, Giannis and Fox, the magnetism and drive between that combination is totally unstoppable! I’m just saying
OKC has best chance to get the Greek Freak.. Bucks don't have draft picks until 2030. OKC has FOUR FIRST ROUND PICKS 2026 AND TWO SECOND ROUND PICKS, THAT'S SIX DRAFT PICKS. THEY CAN THROW IN J-DUB OR CHET. SAM PRESTI GREATEST GM IN NBA HISTORY
Recently injured.
30 years old.
Ball dominant.
Decline begins this season.
Giannis is getting old and injury prone all the time, not reliable when games are tough in playoffs.
Because of injuries, he is way past his prime. If the Spurs trade Castle for Giannis, Vic will not last long in SA: if so, once Giannis gets severly injured and it’s clear SA will not win any championship, the Lakers would hire Vic in 2027 or 28 and Vic would win 4, 5 titles, a long way from SA… Giannis would be a terrible, fatal mistake.
On top of this, when you have a 7’1 Center-PF like 23 yo Moussa Diabate from the Hornets who can solve a large part of the Spurs’ defensive or offensive rebds problems for a fraction of Giannis’ cost, the maths is pretty simple
Don't want him. We have great chemistry, don't mess with it. Timeline is off too.
We need a bigger Power Forward than 6'8. Here are 2026 NBA Draft prospects: Forward Caleb Wilson 6'10 210 North Carolina, Center Aday Mara 7'3 255 Michigan and Hannes Steinbach 6'11 225 Washington.
Neither of those guys will never be Giannis. 50pt triple double in the finals! Will Victor last for Castle and Harper's window? He's already off to a bad start.
Spurs only need a 3 and D forward like:
Herb Jones
Jayden Daniels
OG Anunoby
Tari Eason
