"Meditations" is such an important book to me when I started College, it helped me see the world better and my own "power" in it as well as letting go of any sense of control I had over other's actions, positively or negatively towards myself.
Excellent look at Aurelius. Shows the complexities of his life and character. Where is the broken image of his face from (it's seen at 1:00:40 mins)?
Your content is fantastic
What a voice 👏🏼
My Rabbi..
iv never been in awe of anyone until I found out about Marcus, his knowledge is incredible. I thank his teachers he turned into someone we should aspire to be 👍
Ahéhee'
My chic wants me to listen to "meditations" i came here first…thanks
Thanks!
My opinion. Buddhists have a rich guy who abandoned his family to meditate under a tree. Stoics just are.
The Son of Zeus
here's the thing…for a guy who really emphasized peace and inner harmony, he sure did go on a lot of war campaigns…
Roman catholics , catholics rule. Christianity are just followers.
Catholics live on a real, honest, humble , learning , sometimes strick upbringing, we walk the walk with intelligence and love. 🩵
He was done with them Christians on a slick level woooow! He was very humble and intelligent about it. 😅
I finally bought his meditations book. I can't wait to read a passage a day and walk in the enlightenment path of perfection.
I liked his life and his upbringing. Very honest and keeping real.
I learn from the best of the best!! 🩵
I feel like the hype over this emperor is uncalled for. He is constantly praised for being such a wise and great ruler. Yet, he knowingly allowed his crazy, maniacal, ignorant, indulgent, and narcissistic son to take over the empire upon his death. All of the claims about his amazing stoic perfection go out the windows for me upon this one act. He either A.) Was too dumb to know his son's tendencies and behavior would spell doom for Rome. B.) Knew his son would cause calamity, but he still chose to bring him to power after death. Either way, it crushes the claim that he was so great and genius. He was a human with faults like everyone else. Very big cracking faults. No man of great self-control and wisdom would even think to allow a monstrous doofus like Commodus to inherit the Roman empire.
Novus Homo – New Gay haha. Just kidding
A man a real man…
I truly believe this man made it through to the Beatific Vision. I am a Christian, and believe it.. 🙂
He might have been a genius
Dinariayayaya 😂😂😂
Hows this biography? Why is this not in the comments

I wish instead of jesus it was this man then I would happily be religious. I cannot fathom how someone can be that smart 2000years approx ago. Best role model for anyone.
All that writing to destroy the imperium by choosing his son to lead Rome after him
I love Marcus Aurelius; his Meditations saves my sanity. 😅
Marcus Aurelius, often hailed as the “philosopher emperor,” is, in practice, the perfect example of how words can mask contradictory actions. While he preached in his Meditations about virtues such as peace, self-control, and universal harmony, he led brutal military campaigns to expand and consolidate the Roman Empire, causing massacres and devastation across entire regions. His rule, far from being a practical expression of Stoicism, perpetuated the Roman imperialist system based on exploitation, slavery, and domination. Furthermore, his choice to appoint Commodus, a notoriously unsuitable heir, as his successor not only contradicted the Stoic philosophy of governing with rationality and merit, but also plunged Rome into an age of corruption and decadence. These actions demonstrate that Marcus Aurelius’ Stoicism was largely a rhetorical construct, used to justify his power and project an image of wisdom that was not reflected in the reality of his actions.
I got the mediations book from a co worker and that brought me here. I look forward to reading 📖
5:32 is that boris yeltzin??? 😂
I feel many more of us would benefit from these words than we realise…
How did someone as anti establishment like Marcus Auralius end the Roman golden age because of his succession. Ultimately it was him who was the corrupt one, he became what the stoics and philosphers hated
We have to ask ourselves: if MA was so wise, then why did he choose his reckless son to succeed him?
Marcus has helped many people over the years , it's a blessing to all that his writings survived intact
My leader
Marcus’ writings helped through a cheating spouse. His writings are extremely important.
"The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts: therefore, guard accordingly, and take care that you entertain no notions unsuitable to virtue and reasonable nature. When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive – to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love. You have power over your mind – not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength. The universe is change; our life is what our thoughts make it." – Marcus Aurelius
Misleading title…. But thanks anyway
Is this really hard to follow or am I just slow ?
Instead of the mindless garbage of animation and the MCU someone out there should make a movie about marcus aurelius
Excellent narrative and biography. This is the Marcus Aurelius more recently made famous by the film: Gladiator.
Marcus Aurelius wasn't taught Christian virtues at a young age so he didn't know how to deal with the Christians who were continually persecuted during his younger years to his reign as an emperor. Had he been able to study Christianity at a younger age, he would've considered leniency towards the Christians during his reign. But he was an exemplary leader that we need today. Maybe stoicism must be taught in schools because virtues and morality are as important as other academic disciplines.
We cannot just teach our young academically and set aside the nurturing of their spiritual and emotional aspects. When you understand yourself and conquer yourself, you can conquer anything.
Now I want to visit all these historical sites! ✈🕌
M.A. was a great leader. He was an incredible individual who was just a product of his time. His teachings are a great example to live by.
It might be useful to explain why Rome had a problem with Christianity.. itv not because of what they believed in. It was the fact that to demonstrate loyalty to Rome you are required to make a sacrifice to the cult of the Caesars. .
Please make a documentary on Bruce Lee😊
I guess you should be grateful that you're not owned by a supposed higher being that maybe one day decides that you're not worth life anymore and doesn't think you should have treatment for any illnesses. I guess your cat wasn't reallya memberof your family. Cause you wouldn'tmake that decision for them.
"To be like the rock that the waves keep crashing over. It stands unmoved and the raging of the sea falls still around it." This quote changed my life
It’s sad how many people have no idea about him other than the movie Gladiator
No mention of The Meditations until 52:22……. really?
