Marco dıd not even arrive in China until two years later in 1275 well after the siege was favorably concluded by the Mongols! It is important to cross-check consistently all of Marco Polo's claims against independent historical records.

In my opinion I dont think Marco Polo was lieing about his travels… think about it… here is a man, who lived in european culture, embarking in a 24 year long adventure to visit lands verry few european saw at the time… what do you think his reaction to all the new cultre, architecture and biosphere would be? Of course he would be bewildered… even though he mught havw inflated some of his stories, most of it was indeed a recolection of his travels there…
Which account is perfect? So, is it realistic and fair to look for perfection? If indeed Marco Polo's assertion that he had only related half of what he had seen were true, he could have reserved the second half for things that detractors would much later say he had omitted or was unaware of, much like keeping the best bits to the end. Detractors must fill up the 27 missing years when Marco Polo was away from Venice. Where was he? When? What did he do? Records?.Eyewitnesses? One thing’s for sure; it’s not disputed that his father & uncle did travel to China but did not record their travels.

Account about Tabriz being a city of persia is not true as Marco mentions in that chapter that they traveled south for several days about 500 kilometers of todays meassurement till they reached persia after the city of Qazvin.
