Great narrative, but I think you underestimate that behind the goals and wars of Louis the king of france was the aim of conquering the protestant countries like Britain and Holland with the goal of annihilating all protestants, like Louis had done in france with brute force. His persecution of protestants led to waves of hugenot refugees. William saved the protestants of his time. The dutch war of independence which led tot the formation of the dutch republic was also a religious war, a war for religious freedom.
