Enjoyed the documentary.
18:09 historians don't actually have a consensus on porphyria. Some say it was bi-polar disorder.
He was also an unabashed fan boy of Sharpe
15:04 "one could admire his audacity"
1:03:00 Elagin Palace on Elagin island in Saint-Petersburg, Russia
Елагиноостровский дворец в СПб хаха
Anyway, the interior of this particular Hall was made by Carlo Rossi when the restauration of the whole Palace took place, as far as i remember, in 1820s. So the fashion which influenced the architect was surely interrelated with the one which was common in Britain (and France) during the Regency period.
Another intresting fact is that the owner of the Elagin Palace during that time was widow of the Russian Emperor Paul the 1st – Maria Fedorovna, who invited young Leopold (future husband of George's daughter and King of Belgium) to serve in the Russian army in 1800s.
A fantastic video regarding an important period.
The narrative was extremely well presented — objective, to the point, touching here and there rather sensitive political situations.
Namely, the American Idependence War — during which King Louis XVI run France to the ground supporting the Americans.
And yet, the American Colonies were ignored and abused by the Prime Minister and Parliament members.
In sum, a very well crafted and intelligent narrative.
Thank you for this interesting voyage through British and European History.
This clown was never fit to tie Napoleon's shoes.
Hugely informative! Your documentaries on some of the lesser known kings of England/Britain are the best available online. George IV is usually quite overlooked as he only ruled as king for ten years. He was an important figure all the same through much of his father's long reign. Thanks a lot.
Brilliant. She is totally amazing. I’ve met her personally and she is such a lovely person, too.
George 3 went mad and george 4 started out as prince regent for his mad father-king
George the 3rd known as "the mad sovereign" like charles the 2nd coined "the merry sovereign"
George mistreated Queen Caroline of Brunswick wife
I was hoping they'd touch on Beau Brimmed saing, "Who's your fat friend?". But I guess that's fodder for a second documentary. 🙂
20:56 – Did the painter really need to paint a horse's butthole?
Thanks
Scarcity a mention of the existence of Scotland and Ireland.
I honestly dont know how i survived this Video. Nothing against People Profiles. This was the worst Monarch.
🇬🇧 again, the lovely speaking voice. I wonder who it is
As usual, even pretty decent history channels such as this conflate England and Britain. It's a rather sloppy error.
I've watched every video since William I. Do I go onto Victoria or wait for William IV to come out??
Interesting, especially the explosion of literature in the 1820s.
Muito bom!
31:12 you know what else is massive?
at time mark 4:03 if that is a portrait of Queen Charlotte, she was definitely of Afro-decent. Very interesting.
This s*** is so hard to watch knowing that none of these people don't no closer royalty than my dog.
But they had to do this to continue the myth.
