Shalakho is a traditional Armenian male solo dance, widely performed at celebrations and festive gatherings 🔥
The melody was first notated and arranged for piano by Tigranyan in 1895 and later reworked by other composers. Since 1938, Shalakho has been included in the repertoire of the Aram Khachaturian Song and Dance Ensemble and other ensembles, as well as opera and ballet productions.
The dance is characterized by fast rhythm, sharp and complex movements, kneeling positions (chatma), turns, and high jumps, requiring agility, speed, and precision. It is performed on the toes with abrupt movements of the arms and torso and is stylistically close to Georgian folk dances.
The main step is a distinctive Armenian chassé with multiple variations.

Մեղեդին առաջին անգամ գրի է առել և դաշնամուրի համար մշակել Տիգրանյանը (1895), հետագայում այն մշակվել է նաև այլ կոմպոզիտորների կողմից։ 1938 թվականից Շալախոն ընդգրկվել է Արամ Խաչատրյանի անվան երգի-պարի համույթ և այլ համույթների ծրագրերում, ինչպես նաև օպերա-բալետային ներկայացումներում։
Պարը բնորոշվում է արագ ռիթմով, բարդ ու կտրուկ շարժումներով, ծնկածալ նստումներով (չաթմա), պտույտներով և բարձր թռիչքներով։ Կատարվում է ոտքերի մատներին՝ ձեռքերի և իրանի կտրուկ դարձումներով։ Ոճով մոտ է վրացական ժողովրդական պարերին։ Հիմնական քայլը ոտ փոխելն է (հայկական chassé)՝ իր տարբերակներով։
