In this episode of Insights, host Eric Hacopian covers the dramatic arrests of billionaire Samvel Karapetyan and Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, both accused in connection to an alleged coup plot. Eric unpacks what these charges reveal about rising political tensions in Armenia, the role of Russia, and the state’s approach to dissent. He also examines Prime Minister Pashinyan’s visit to Turkey, why a planned meeting with Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev there fell through, and what the failed summit says about the peace process. Finally, Eric responds to the prime minister’s controversial statement that Armenia “gained independence by losing Artsakh,” and asks what such rhetoric means for the country’s future.

If we were a smart people we should have offered a swap Artsakh for Nkhichevan (as it was suggested in the 1920s) the war could have been avoided and Armenia instead of Piece of Sh…t Georgia could have that Oil pipe going through her territory. I know it is a radical suggestion, however what did we get out of it, Nothing except thousands of Armenian boys lying in Yerablur and a national tragedy.

If Pashinyan was decent man , he will stepped down, but looks like “Power” is very “sweet thing”.

The arrests were warranted, and the trip was worth it. Time will prove these points. What you call insult to your intelligence is actually inconvenient truth. Get over the cognitive dissonance.

It is in such times that a nation MUST pull together , freedom of thought and expression is precious and it is ONLY earned , the free and high minded Armenians in the republic MUST avoid targeted crowdsourcing misinformation and disinformation , and would urge all to listen to recent EVN Report available in YouTube: “Examining the Context ; Subversion and Electoral Interference, Russia and Armenia 2026”… Things can get worst easy and quick , so the nation MUST choose WISELY and NOT select Otherwise !!!

Pashinyan left the defenders of Artsakh for over forty days getting shelled by Turkey & its drones & did not relieve any of them. Turkey/Azergayjan used to change the front line soldiers every fortnight giving them a rest & letting fresh soldiers take charge. Artsakh was betrayed.

Shame on you Eric comparing Pashinian's statement about Artsakh to the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. That is blasphemy. I as a Christian find it very offensive. You said the Early Church believed it was a victory. So the newer Christians do not believe it a victory? The death of Christ on the cross and his resurrection was/is a victory unlike the loss of Atsakh. Read the Bible!

Pashinyan is a complete failure. We found Armenia by losing Artsakh. That should have been his original campaign slogan so,he would never have been voted in.

For how long Armenia should be isolated? Closed border with two neighbors. Iran's border is very fragile. Georgia border 😬.

Pashinyan is doing good. He is avoiding the mistake that Saakashvili committed in 2012 when he handed power to Kremlin affiliated oligarch. Look where we are now.
