ICH & Sustainable Tourism Dialogue #4 – Action Research in Living Heritage and Tourism
This fourth dialogue brings together researchers and practitioners who have worked closely with communities in Georgia and Armenia to co-develop sustainable cultural tourism based on intangible cultural heritage.
Moderated by Michele McKenzie, the discussion features:
Dr. Ketevan Gurchiani, Professor of Anthropology and Director of the Anthropology Research Center at Ilia State University in Tbilisi (Georgia), who led the ethnographic research in Mukhrani with the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage;
Dr. Ruzanna Tsaturyan, researcher at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography, lecturer at Yerevan State University, and co-founder of the NGO Culture for Sustainable Development, who worked on the My Armenia cultural tourism program;
With an introduction and closing by Halle Butvin, director of special projects and interim director of communications for the Smithsonian’s Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage.
