You can analyze, speculate and read so much information you want about a company stock, but at the end of the day – hitting gold on an investment is pure luck and there are studies that prove exactly that. However, that does not mean you have better odds betting on one stock than the other, and here is where trends come in.
Trends are what drives society and businesses forward and those companies that are first to take advantage and utilize these trends are the ones you should place your bets on. The most obvious trend is technology and the hottest trend right now is Green technology, which means companies such as Vow and Nel that focus on renewable energy sources such as hydrogen.
Thus, as the oil and gas sector is slowly fading out of the picture and will be totally replaced by renewable energy sources in the long run, the chances of you hitting a high ROI on a green stock is much higher than an oil stock. And that's the morale of the story, make reasonable investments based on current and future trends and you won't be so dependent on luck.
Also, do not analyze too much about a company, that is just a big-time waster. If the company has a good history and reputation, good leadership, and is financially stable, then just go for it. There are too many variables in this game that you simply cannot control or predict that it is not worth the bother. Always remember that no matter what you choose, it is gambling at the end of the day and you have to get lucky.
