Carefully designed at the beginning of the 20th century by Alexander Tumanyan, Yerevan is a masterpiece of urban planning of that time. On a beautiful summer morning, I took these videos while driving through the beautiful, circular streets of the city. This video recorded on July 06, 2021. The ancient festival is traditionally associated with the deity Astghik, who was the goddess of water, beauty, love, and fertility. The festivities connected with the religious observance of Astghik were originally named “Vartavar” because Armenians offered her roses as a celebration (“vart” means “rose” in Armenian and “var” means “rise”).
