Love this
“American poker face is an Armenian smile” ❤️💙🧡
Everything you said is applicable in Serbia.
Lol, I go to pro-Armenian events in the US, Southern California. I get stares, no one greets me. I was told that it was because I was black.
Maybe, as Armenians we should tone down some greetings that include "djigered oudem" I would hate to explain what it means to odars.
Hi , i will be visiting armenia 🇦🇲, please where to go in yerevne
My family hosted an exchange student from Ijevan in 2021-22, and now we're all about to go visit her and her family. Watching this so I don't accidentally come across as a massive dickhead 😂
You are wonderful Ms. Mariam. I have watched this video twice now. Thank you for deepening my understanding of Armenian language and culture. If you were here I'd drink a toast of Ararat to you.
Let's goo!
I was adopted and I’m trying to reconnect with the culture so thank you for this video. ❤
Is it an Armenian custom to always pay the bill when out to dinner etc? In my experience the Armenian family I lived with felt like they had to pay the bill before someone else did or they would be responsible in the future for their guests. Is this an Armenian culture thing?
Thanks so much! What kinds of gifts do you take when going to an Armenian home?
Awesome video! I appreciate your charisma and humor also! God bless you! շնորհակալություն
The way you greet people in Mexican and Armenian culture seem to be similar. In Mexican culture you greet people with a hug and usually one kiss and you always have to go around and greet everyone as well. It would be rude to not greet everyone
Here is my list on Armenian etiquette :
1 . respect the elders – give them your sit , your place in line , don’t argue back . The first two also apply to pregnant women .
2. DO NOT use profanity in public socially around women and children.
3 . If you are the only one eating at the table ,ether don’t ,or offer to share , no matter how small your meal.
4 . Never rush a guest out of your house .
5. If you are at the water fountain ALWAYS yield to a child !!! The children are the altar of worship for all. They always get to drink first , speak last ( this is respect to the elders clause) and be adored by all ; strangers or not .
If someone does a kindness to you make sure to not forget .
6 if you enter a home with an elder in it treat it like you are at a temple/church – respectful to the max , no loud speech and do not interrupt.
7. Don’t suck face in public , specially around kids .
8. If you are offered a ton of treats/food item don’t refuse , but don’t take it all- it might be the offerers last bite, but you will never know.
9. Be respectful and enjoy !
Is burping after the meal ever complimentary to the chef/host for a delicious meal? My grandfather was Western Armenian and always would say that when he burped at the table
I am learning Armenian language and I wish I can visit my friend there one day. but, am a Muslim girl and I wear a scarf, I think it will not be welcoming for me to be there since it looks as rude thing hahaha. 🙁
Okay. Now I understand why. Thank you! God bless. 🙏🏻
Love the way you explain!!! It’s very hooking 🙂
Thank you, Mariam, for teaching.
A second video about etiquette would be great.
