EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Armenian actor, comedian, producer Hrant Tokhatyan has been actively participating in the opposition rallies in Yerevan.
Today, The Armenian Report caught up with Tokhatyan in France Square who emphasized to us why he has joined the opposition movement.
“Today the issue of our country and statehood is being raised, our compatriots in the Diaspora must also join, we must be here shoulder to shoulder,” Tokhatyan said to The Armenian Report.
According to him, stereotypes should be put aside about the former authorities. We should understand, it is not a party issue, it is not a leader issue, even though they often try to divide people by emphasizing that.
“I have not come here to stand by any leader, because we have lived under their leadership for years and we know what it’s. like. We need something new today,” he continued.
According to Tokhatyan, today’s struggle is for the native land.
“I do not want my grandson to live in an Armenia where I have to explain to him using photos to show what Shushi is, or Stepanakert, or Gyumri, Dilijan, Vanadzor. That is why we came here — purely to prevent that danger,” he told us.
Tokhatyan said all those Armenians did not die in vein.
