A great programme on a great King! Edward iv has been a favourite of mine since I read The Goldsmith's Wife by Jean Plaidy in 1976 when I was 11. Fell for Richard iii too! Such exciting people!

People keep forgetting that this man was illegitimate. Not a rightful king of England, he should never have been king. If only Henry V didn’t die young.
It is likely that Edward was illegitimate- according to the accounts of Rouen the Duke of York was on campaign when Edward was conceived. This could explain his different appearance to his siblings.

I am the 16th descended great grandson of Edward the 4th however sadly it was from an illegitimate child however I’m technically still blood-related too him directly 😂

Edward the 4th is my favorite of England. I think what history teaches us is that in life he was an extraordinary king and person.
He's one of my faves.

Maybe it would be an idea for us Anglo-Saxons to start getting the correct pronunciation of Plantagenet right.??
And imagine that Shakespeare would have us believe that Richard was responsible for the downfall of George when the truth is, George was a traitor to his own brother and king hence earning his fate as opposed to Shakespeare's narrative which paints him as innocent.
I believe Edward fourth was one of the best well liked,amiable,militarily intelligent and talented kings. His story always fascinates and interests me and ill read anything i come across written about him
Good looking, tall, greatly skilled in military, government, and merchant matters, married for love to a gorgeous wife, lots of children and lovers, loved by his people, died with his loved ones around him, his last decade mostly peaceful. He had it all! I just wonder if his soul was saved in the end, the best of both worlds. I sure wish I was born him!
I have always thought that Edward's portrait is awful. There is nothing of his reputed good looks that I can see in it. The video itself is excellent.

Edward IV does not get the recognition that he so much deserves. He won his crown by conquest winning it from a very disturbed king who as we know wasn’t a very strong leader, Edward however brought peace to England and won every battle he fought in, he was one of our greatest Kings.

On the upbringing: I'm from a person in Sweden who was the son of the Royal Housekeeper of Nyköping Castle (Brita Larsdotter) and so raised alongside the prince of Sweden. She was so involved in affairs that you can still find documents with her signature in the castle records. But my ancestor wasn't left to the winds or probably high ranking enough for his own tutor. I'm assuming mothers could have a role in the education of their children even if they were busy. There were other relatives available to take care at certain junctures, and being pregnant doesn't put you in stasis. If pregnancy was just stasis I'd sign up immediately.
