I have often wondered why people think everything having to do with Jesus was ornate and fitting for a king. He was a poor peasant. The Roman guards didn’t care about him. To them the crucifixion was just a couple more people who were sentenced to death. They didn’t go digging through the armory to find a spear with an ornate head. They would have had their normal issued spear that was part of their everyday kit.
