Emperor Hadrian, who ruled from 117 to 138 AD, is best known for solidifying the Roman Empire’s borders rather than expanding them, famously commissioning Hadrian’s Wall in Britain. His reign was marked by extensive travels, fostering culture and architecture, and reforming Roman law, leaving a lasting legacy of peace and stability.

No joke, I saw a cool looking t shirt with a head bust of a good looking Roman dude with a beard. I bought it. Looked it up. It was Hadrian. I was fascinated by Hadrian's rule – including the current day consequences of Rome's triumph over the Bar Kohkva Revolt – and I changed my major to history. I have my PhD now.
“Our great mistake is to try to exact from each person virtues which he does not possess, and to neglect the cultivation of those which he has.” ~Hadrian.
Bro why is Pedro Pascal the thumbnail
The original H man
Very interesting!
Hadrian was also gay AF! His own wife who he hated and she hated him, refused to have his children because she said wouldn’t be good for the empire, she was doing the empire a favor
As far as arranged marriages go, he was young and she was old. And how many strings were the Praetorian Guards pulling this time? FASCINATING! 😀

I have visited Hadrian’s wall and I must say I have never seen so many penis on a wall. But apparently Romans did this a lot
My parents didn’t know it but this is the root of my name.
Thanks for the story ❤
yes, emperor Hadrian was good emperor of roman empire he did not focusing about conquering cities or expand the empire he focused develop a city of marbel he reconstruct the temple of greek in many other religious places hadrians column.
The "Science" rules out a turf wall it was a Timber rampart, and his visit prompted a major rebellion as the natives were expected to build the Wall.
Excellent as always, I need one done on Pompey Magnus as well as Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa…
Clearly, no one making this vid ever came to Scotland and spoke to a scots about that wall. The misinformation in this is astounding!
Could we see a biography on Major General George Henry Thomas, the famous "Rock of Chickamauga" and my favorite Civil War general?
It's great that I got to know him, thanks for giving me more information.
Very good. Thank you.
Great rulers ans emperor but can someone tell me if the rumors of his love for young boys over women was a lie 😅
Ty for the new drop ❤
Yeah – Hadrian was cool, he'd get my vote as a serving legionnaire plebeian. Vespasian and Marcus Aurelius seemed equally accomplished and cultured… As 'Imperial Dictators' go…
I live about 45 minutes (NW) from 'The Wall''…. I often imagine the ghost of a lone legionnaire uttering the words – '' Estne quisquam sicco illic ? '' As he stands, shivering, pilum in the crook of his arm as he gazes north across the parapet of his emplaced 'turret ' at the bleak, foreboding land of those scary, hairy 'barbarians' who don't wear any "subligaculum" !
Love the Rome portfolio
I wrote a paper on how / why Hadrian was the greatest of the Roman Emperors (debatable I know) but I still stand by it today 😁
Hadrian ! One of the bests !
Fascinating Gay leader ! 🤠💟
Another awesome documentary! I do think it's a slight stretch to say that Hadrian's lack of addressing the things which led to the Crisis of the Third Century is some kind of mark against him, however. Those things are easy to see in hindsight, but if he had not shored up the empire, the crisis may have come earlier or been worse, and if future emperors like Commodus had not sucked so much, then maybe the crisis would have been much less bad. It kind of feels like blaming JFK for not addressing the beginning stages of issues which eventually led to the recession in 2008 or something, when in reality, the people in the decades closer to the event itself are much more to blame.
“He was born…in the city of Metallica…” rock on 🤘
I do like your history doc's , I just wished we knew more about ancient history . Since not written in record , since not everyone back then could read and write .Instead just tell the storers down the generations , but his Hadrian's Wall is just a small rock fence in Northern England .Kinda wished could seen it on the European vacation I on once .
It hard to believe in the old country , it now that is Hadrian's Wall is now just a tiny fence line .And used as road in "RobinHood Prince of Thieves ",well some kid over there chopped down a very old tree there .
NO Mexican border walls !! 🤮🤪🥶
Very interesting video.
Enjoyed this very much.💪👍🥃
