In 1915, the Ottoman Empire launched a relocation (tehcir) policy in response to Armenian armed groups cooperating with Russian forces and carrying out massacres against Muslim villages in Eastern Anatolia. Ottoman archives (e.g., DH.ŞFR, DH.MTV) document these uprisings and attacks, as well as orders issued to protect Armenians during the deportations. Some contemporary American observers, such as in the Harbord Report (1919), confirmed that Armenians committed massacres and incited rebellion in certain regions. Historians like Justin McCarthy have reached similar conclusions based on demographic and archival research. While Turkey describes this period as mutual suffering during wartime, several countries and Armenian diaspora groups define it as genocide.
In recent decades, Turkey has repeatedly called for the establishment of a joint historical commission and has opened its Ottoman archives to international researchers to investigate the 1915 events transparently. However, Armenian authorities and diaspora organizations have largely rejected these proposals, maintaining their position without engaging in a joint archival review.
He didn't actually say anything.
There was never a Genocide of Armenians by the Ottoman Turks, no facts or forensics and never a successful case in a court of law where evidence is used to support any claims of such an event happening!
Now get Turkey to admit it
Viva Netanjahu!

It's a completely political move but it's always a political move when some country out of nowhere decides to "recognize" some historical claim, fact or fiction. But here is the interesting part. The current Armenian government/president doesn't much care about recognition at all.. they just had a war with Turkish ally Azerbaijan and lost, losing all the Azerbaijani land they had occupied 30 years ago (but was internationally recognized as Azerbaijani). Now you'd think this would make relations between Turkey, Azerbaijan and Armenia even worse, right? But it didn't. See Turkey had been trying to normalize relations with Armenia for almost 2 decades now but couldn't because lil bro Azerbaijan got really upset, since Armenia occupied like 20% of their country. After the war, there were no real excuses left to have closed borders and hostility so the countries actually started to normalize, make peace and trade deals etc. Pashinyan the president of Armenia came to Turkey and met with both Erdogan and Aliyev multiple times. Now, the story behind it all is long but the point is that the three countries are taking big steps to fix relations. Don't believe me, go check Aliyev and Pashinyan chilling together in China and their wives going on boat tours together just yesterday.
Pashinyan literally rejected Netenyahu's recognition by saying they don't care what he has to say or what he recognizes, and that this doesn't help anyone in the region. (paraphrasing, but the point is that he hinted at the fact that he cared more about having good relations with his neighbors than dwelling on the tragedies of the past)
Pashinyan a while back already signaled that "Armenia has to move on from the past" and stuff. Signalling that Armenia will no longer waste energy trying to lobby for recognition. This is likely because the whole genocide thing isn't conductive to fixing relations and focusing on a more prosperous future. Nor does it actually gain Armenia anything, other than maybe a moral victory of some kind. Turkey is after all one of the most powerful countries in the region and a direct neighbor of Armenia. Furthermore, Turkey has zero claims on Armenia or Armenian lands. It's the opposite, Armenia has claims on 1/3rd of Turkey, large parts of Azerbaijan and Georgia. Which is something written in their constitution and something they're actually trying to change. And in those claims lies the problem, a large part of the fixation with recognizing 1915 as a genocide used to be this idea that Armenia would somehow be able to claim Turkish lands / Eastern Anatolia and demand it as reparations. Which obviously … is not a thing. It's also part of why Turkey never recognized it regardless of pressure (the pressure that means nothing, but really I mean who cares who believes what.
Lastly, most Armenians are very anti Israel and pro Palestine. Armenian Palestinians also suffer under the Israeli yoke and people seem to be quick to forget that Israel was the second largest supporter of Azerbaijan during their war (yeah, it's complicated .. and an even longer story)
absolutely ridiculous that this wasn't recognized before. Also recognize the holodomor as a genocide you
Turcia intrerupe relatiile economice cu ISRAELUL la fiecare doua zile 🤣😅😂
He is an indicted war criminal. Lock him up!
Are Jews proud to be led by him and his friends?
Alleged?!! My a$$
It was not genocide.
This makes me sick… he will recognise a genocide in another country but won’t admit that he is carrying out his own genocide against Palestinians
So Netanyahu knew it was genocide all along but chose not to acknowledge it—until Turkey severed relations. In retaliation, he recognized the Armenian genocide. Many will view this as cynical, immoral, and a display of moral depravity especially coming from Netanyahu and Israel who are actively committing genocide.
All while committing a gen0c7de himself!
Its good for Netanyahu to acknowledge Armenian genocide. Now please acknowledge the genocide being conducted in Gaza by Israel.
Braindead Europe
Hanging on every word of the evil himself just not to report the genocide he is commuting now. We Armenians don’t care what the garbage of a person lies about. Stop the genocide
A war criminal wanted by ICC for committing genocide is acknowledging fake armo genocide… gfu🖕

lets be glad that god forsaken snake ottoman empire got crushed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the turks will never recognize it since they dont want pay it back money/land
im a TURK SURYOYO from diyarbakir/miday turkiye
As an Armenian I will just say that he can go screw himself with the recognition. Many of us as descendants of survivors of the Armenian genocide, we have been having the double trouble seeing everything that's happening in Gaza. Also, the testing of Israeli weapons and war techniques on Armenians of Artsakh in 2020-2023 will not be forgotten. Our trauma is not his political score to get.
Himself doing genocide against Palestinians now he recognizes Armenian genocide ? I m Armenian but dont want such terrorist recognizes our genocide. STOP KILLING PALESTINIAN CHILDREN AND WOMANS .
This is pretty sick from a country that is committing genocide!

It’s the first time a defendant for crimes against humanity and war crimes has reached this point where he recognises genocides O R A L L Y to appeal to his audience’s emotions but really rather to trivialise the crime of genocide …
