Great introductory video for beginners! Thank you!
Great video! I’m really into Armenian coins and currently own more than 200 of them (about 80% of all coins minted by the Cilician kings — I’m only missing the rare silver coins and, of course, the gold coins). However, you are mistaken in saying that Levon I was the only ruler to mint gold coins. Other rulers also issued gold coinage. I’ve come across several accounts from the 20th century describing people possessing such coins, which were later looted and lost during the wars.
Recently, I managed to find a photograph of a double Tahenkan of Levon I and a Tahenkan of Gonstantine I. These gold coins depict the king mounted on horseback on one side and a castle on the reverse (described in Armenian Coins and Their Values, p. 149). Unfortunately, the topic of Cilician Armenia’s gold coinage remains obscure and difficult to study, as there are very few resources available online.
You deserve a lot more views and support. Great videos. Maybe contact classical numismatics to collaborate or something of that sort to expand your network/views?
Excellent video, thank you!
