After taking Tyre, Alexander advanced on Gaza, the last Persian stronghold before Egypt. The city resisted for two months, forcing a colossal undertaking: the construction of a ramp up to the walls. Wounded in battle, Alexander returned more ruthless than ever. When Gaza fell, a massacre followed, the enslavement of the survivors, and the brutal execution of Batis. With the road clear, Alexander marched toward Jerusalem, where, according to a tradition preserved by Josephus, he was peacefully received by the high priest—an episode many historians today regard as a later legend.

Why is always gaza🥀
❤🤍💙 all your video's mate👍.
Why is the high priest hat looks like a bishop's hat? He is the Jewish high priest of the temple in Jerusalem, not a medieval bishop.
This is why archaeology is so important—stories buried in the ground
According to Curtius, Alexander executed Vati because during the siege the latter sent Arab mercenaries to the former who almost killed him. The version that Alexander executed Vati alive behind his chariot is a later version by the Roman Curtius, who used to dramatize the events, so Vati was simply executed, not dragged.
During the siege of Gaza, the Samaritans, enemies of the Israelites, lied to Alexander that the Jews were plotting against him. Alexander, after Gaza, marched on Jerusalem and when the High Priest and the people came out to meet him, Alexander respected them and after they swore allegiance to him, they let him enter peacefully. There is also a version that Alexander invited the priest, but this is Israeli propaganda by a Hellenized Israelite during the Roman period.
Gaza was the administrative center from which the Persians controlled Egypt; with its fall, Alexander completed the conquest of the Mediterranean coasts.
No dude it’s biblical propaganda. There’s a reason Greeks and Romans are embracing the Olympians again.
Or Alexander really did see a God like figure remember the temple of artmis was caught on fire when Alexander was born
