ARMENIA TRAVEL WITH KBS: TONIR BBQ IN VAYOTZ DZOR (IN KOREAN)
Khorovats is a unique Armenian barbecue method where the large chunky cuts of meat are skewered and cooked on mangal (open charcoal BBQ) or inside the underground tonir (a built-in clay oven). The khorovats version you see in the video also uses sliced potatoes in between the meats, which is very popular in Armenia.
Although any quality meat is suitable for khorovats, most often it is prepared with pork chops and pork ribs that are typically marinated for a short time, but it does not have to be.
