You are correct, time is key.
When you grow up poor, its real hard to pull the plug even if the numbers "work". My military pension is huge just in Tricare benefits alone, but its more the fear of the unknown…bills, life, death. I am real close, debt free, have a decent savings so I just don't have the will power to pull the plug. Maybe its seeing my mom struggle in her retirement and I don't want to go through that.
Thank you for the video. Sometimes I wish I didn't put so much in my 401k and IRA it makes 59 1/2 my target. Almost there… next year 🎉
First, Thanks for your service. Retired from active Army in 2018 at 47. Been working a second career since. Just changed company this year. About to be 55. Expect to be fully retired by 58. No way I will go beyond that.
Chief Mike it’s bitter cold in Virginia. 🥶🥶. We both did not retire early at 55 cause we love that money 💰. Your right health is number 1 my friend. I am now putting money into the grandkids account. Can you do a video on giving money to kids and grandkids? I need your wisdom Master Chief.

…which includes being able to afford health insurance before Medicare. That's always the obstacle and it looks like the ACA is going away sooner than later.

I am 47, I have a job that pays me very well, about 180K per year with 6 weeks paid vacation and amazing benefits, I have a plan to retire at the age of 50 with about 60K annual income, all inclusive. I do not hate my job but I hate getting up at 5 AM and dealing with stress. I keep thinking that I should work at least until 55 but I have watched so many YouTubers say “retire as soon as possible”. I think that even if I make a mistake, I can always go back to work. The decision is scary, that is why keep watching videos like yours.
