During the first centuries of the Empire, gladiator games were a central part of Roman public life. However, with the rise of Christianity, the view on the combats changed radically and, over time, the fights were banned. But then what happened to the gladiators after the games were prohibited? That is what we are going to see in this video.

I'd like to see an action movie based on the subject of this video . Where the main character is an ex-gladiator who's also a Christian and despite he's repeated attempts to not use violence he's thrown into a world where he has to use violence and his wits to bring social justice to evil characters and some are those who he knows from his time as a Gladiator ( who he also may experience betrayal from ) .
I did enjoy this video. Very good presentation!
B.L. Morgan here. (Author of Blood For The Masses) What most people don't know is most gladiator fights were like pro wrestling, scripted.
It was just too expensive to house and train gladiators just to send them out to be killed. It was a business, just like any other.
There were some real fights, but it wasn't too common!

Such hypocrisy on the part of Roman emperors: They claimed that violence and gladiatorial fights are incompatible to Christianity's teaching of love and pacifism, yet they continued engaging in wars. I mean, the very reason why Constantine moved the Roman empire's capital to Constantinople was because it was closer to their enemies, the Parthian Persians, so they can fight more.
You left out one of the areas open to the ex gladiators: crime. Just like today, many military trained men turn to crime after their fighting career is taken away. This happened with the secret police and special forces after their profession ended in East Germany, and other ex USSR countries, and in Iraq; to list but a few.
The ludas' wouldn't want to take a loss.
Religion has ruined EVERYTHING
Yeah and slavery was still a thing.
Thank you for making these videos that present the process of how these things likely happened.
