Emmy Award-winning anchor Araksya Karapetyan emceed the 16th annual Children of Armenia Fund Gala in NYC.
In her opening remarks, Araksya spoke of being born in Gyumri during the Spitak Earthquake of 1988 and emigrating to the US shortly after. She recalled the despair and lack of opportunities and how happy she is that organizations like COAF are opening windows for advancement for the country’s youth.

Նա իր բացման խոսքում պատմեց, որ ծնվել է Գյումրիում, ականատես եղել 1988թ․ երկրաշարժին ու մանուկ հասակում ստիպված եղել թողնել հայրենիքն ու տեղափոխվել ԱՄՆ։ Նա մտաբերեց երկրաշարժի տարիներին հաջորդած հուսահատությունն ու հնարավորությունների բացակայությունը՝ նշելով, որ խիստ ուրախ է, որ ՔՈԱՖ-ի նման կազմակերպությունները «գյուղական երիտասարդության համար պատուհաններ են բացում»։
