U.S. News ranks Fresno State among the best for social mobility

Fresno State is ranked No. 31 for social mobility in U.S. News and World Report’s 2025 Best Colleges rankings published on Sept. 24. The social mobility category recognizes colleges and universities for how well they help students improve their socioeconomic status through educational opportunities. Fresno State also ranked high for best undergraduate engineering program placing No. 44 and ranked No. 97 for top public school nationwide. 

The university ranked No. 4 in the nation for social mobility in The Wall Street Journal/College Pulse 2024 Best Colleges in the U.S. rankings in early September and No. 22 among the top public and private universities nationally in Washington Monthly’s 2024 annual list of top universities published in August.
