Despite seeing a relatively gold-friendly environment due to rising uncertainty, BMO Capital Markets’ co-head of mining research says it may be ‘too soon’ to say gold is moving higher. ‘We’re sitting on the sidelines right now,’ Andrew Kaip told Kitco News at the bank’s annual mining conference in Florida. He adds that BMO expects gold prices to average around $1175 an ounce for 2017, and silver to average around the $17 range.
