Why not just give your French possessions to the heir… that way the heir is a subject of two kings.. and the king is not.. 🤔
제발 Great라는 어휘 쓰지마라! 뭐가 그리 Great하냐?
I’m here because Wikitree says Edward Plantagenet (b. 1239) was my 23rd great grandfather. This should be interesting!
This is superb, scholastic and so interesting. Truly enjoy them. Thank you 😎❤️
Thank you!
Early Plantagenets (Angevin kings):
• Henry II (r. 1154–1189) – Born in Le Mans, France.
• Richard I (r. 1189–1199) – Born in Oxford, England.
• John (r. 1199–1216) – Born in Oxford, England.
So among the first three kings, 2 were born in England.
Main Plantagenet Line:
Kings such as:
• Henry III – Born in Winchester, England.
• Edward I, II, III – All born in England.
• Richard II – Born in Bordeaux, France.
Up through Richard II, most Plantagenet kings were born in England.
House of Lancaster and York (Cadet branches of Plantagenets):
• Henry IV, V, VI – All born in England.
• Edward IV, Edward V, Richard III – All born in England.
Summary Estimate:
There were about 15 Plantagenet kings, and at least 11 of them were born in England.
If you include royal family members (not just kings), the number of English-born Plantagenets rises significantly — possibly dozens, especially from the mid-13th century onward.

🏰 Summary
From the reign of Henry III onward, the Plantagenet dynasty increasingly established its presence in England, with many royal children born in prominent English locations such as Westminster Palace, Windsor Castle, Woodstock Palace, and Eltham Palace. This shift reflects the dynasty's transition from its French origins to a firmly English indentiy.
Oh how I love this channel ❤

A history I never grow tired from.

It is suspected that Edward II was light in the sabatons, apparently.😮
Technically Edward the first should be the 2nd as the Anglo Saxon Kingdoms were united by Alfred the Greats grandson Edward.

1165 was during Henri II Reign..@ 12:08 min
About the succession to the French throne, it is very difficult to understand from the video how Edward III had a "better claim" than Philippe VI.
If Charles IV's daughters were excluded due to the French succession rules, it is hard to see why Edward III, his sister's issue, should have been considered his legitimate successor.
I wonder why it took the French so long to understand the long bow was superior to the crossbow. You would think that by Agincourt they would have figured it out.
I wonder if the past UK 'rulers' had the equivalent of Jimmy Saville and Jeffrey Epstein as friends ?!??
4:36:51 Thermite arrows. These would be handy in Total War: Warhammer
Thanks!

My family history can be summed up in a >10 minute PowerPoint presentation
Feckin' ads make this unwatchable. 😢😢
At 12:06, he meant to say 1265.
A common thread woven throughout the cosmic quilt of humanity. A scientific fact.
The end of the War of the Roses was because we trasplanted the rose gardens from each opposing gardens to their oppositions.
Thus replelling each other from each others gardens. Strange how they work. Took us 100 years to fighure it out.
Does the fact that we still use the house of Capet as the Royal Standard, does this mean we are yet to relinquish the claim to the french crown in some kind of symbolic form albeit a considerable amount of history has passed since?
Yes
So what England calls it's greatest kings, which is a bit weird as they're descendents of their Viking/French conquerers that ended Anglo/Saxon rule there. And English people keep calling themselves ' Anglo/Saxon' while dismissing all the other parts of their genome.
Whilst in the rest of the British Isles and Europe the Plantagenets were know as tyrants and war criminals 🤷
So weird who the English chose to admire .🤔
Piers Gaveston's dick must've been the best of the century and addicting. Poor Edvard II, just wanted his bromance arc to develop 😂
You don't do everything edward II did for just a friend
This is a great portrayal of the three edwards. It is easier to follow if you just don't look at the accompanying videos.
Edward ll was an inept ruler, who was woefully unable to hide his sexual deviations at least. He got what he deserved per ano.
Edward 1 is my favourite medieval King, Edward 3 is pretty cool too.
King Edward 111 is in my Ancestry and is my 28 G Grandfather. My DNA is 68% British 😊even though I am a American 😊🇺🇸❤
