The Federal Reserve decides Wednesday. On Friday the market put a rate hike at roughly 88%, and a cut at zero. It would be the first increase since July 2023.
Over nine days, three guests sat down with Jeremy Szafron and made the case that higher rates are a problem the debt can’t carry. Ran Neuner on September 3, Brien Lundin on Tuesday September 8, and Ron Paul on September 9.
Neuner argued the inflation is a supply shock from the war and that rates are the wrong tool for it, while saying he wasn’t ruling a hike out. Lundin argued a sustained campaign of rate hikes cannot be afforded, with debt service already running above national defense. Ron Paul argued the debt and malinvestment have to be liquidated eventually, and that there is no painless way to get there.
Friday’s CPI came in at 0.4% for the month and 3.4% on the year, with core at 0.3%, hotter than the 0.2% economists expected. That’s the Labor Department.

Right time to buy gold folks, have at least one ounce of physical 24k gold, you will remember my advice forever.
Why would you talk to a shiller like Ran Neuner he is garbage no one should take him seriously and now we know he was wrong once again.
Welp
sounds loo like two criminals in place to legally commit crimes against the American people as I'm sure they are rich and getting richer daily with no fear of any laws at all to hold them accountable. I could be wrong?
🤷♂️
Incredible synthesis of the Fed dilemma—the clash between rising inflation pressures and the sheer cost of servicing national debt, along with the perspective on how gold reacts, was fascinating to watch.
As a video editor and thumbnail designer, I actually made a few improved thumbnail concepts to help this video stand out even more on the feed.
How can I send these over for you to check out?
End the FED. The government shouldn't be allowed to borrow money from the FED that isn't backed by anything. Increased government borrowing is the start of inflation.
Warsh needs to hike rates, if only to accelerate Congress to act. By act: reform social security, cut government spending, increase corporate and individual income taxes. The Fed has enabled Congress to spend recklessly by keeping interest rates near zero for almost two decades. Those days are over. By the way, it is not unpatriotic to say that the Defense Budget should be slashed by 40%-50%. There is no need to spend close to $1T on defense. Much of this is wasted money flowing into the military cesspool.
.25 point is nothing
We have a Fed chairman, who is no dummy, who is also apparently ignoring even the question of fiscal dominance, or the few trillion of short debt rolling over in the next few months. Is he dumber than he looks? Is this the mother of all bluffs? How the hell do we know? He's getting ready to push up the 10 year when it's already at near crisis level highs, and while his buddy Scotty B is getting weirder and weirder in his quest to totally-not-control short end yields by openly running a Ponzi scheme with the most important sovereign debt in the world. Will we see a hike on Wednesday? Who knows, we're on the bus too crazy town. Anything seems possible. Keep up the good work here, Jeremy.
The Sky is falling, the Sky is falling!!! 😂😂😂
The "Ineffective" Argument: Economists who share the view that a rate hike won't be effective argue that higher interest rates cannot fix the root causes of current inflation, such as geopolitical energy shocks or supply chain disruptions. Instead, piling higher borrowing costs onto credit cards, auto loans, and mortgages will simply worsen the burden on households that are already throwing up financial red flags. (AI Answers)
Yes
Hold or Cut. That’s my bet. (With more phatic fluff talk.
The FED he just started come on man that's dumb
1 and done rate hike nxt week. Will scare markets much earlier than Powell, he will pivot too. Long n brutal Santa rally in gold stocks to come…
Oil is the inflation problem and raising rates won't do JS to to fix it. It'll just punish everybody already paying high prices with more high prices, ie mortgages, credit cards, etc., it will make the fed debt servicing even more expensive, and it will further slow the economy possibly pushing us into recession. Warsh has to know this! Who are the 88% so dumb they can't figure this out and are betting on a rate hike?! Get real!
I strongly believe they will either raise the rate or not. But I've been wrong before…..
Holding the rate. No rate hike
I am betting against a rate hike.
No need to raise Fed fund rate , the markets will do the pricing for the bond market. Disparity between Fed funds rate versus the 10 20 30 year bond yields to continue
They have to raise. Its shit or get off the pot time. If they don't hike, the dolla is toast AND it would surprise and shock the markets. Plus, they can always cut just before the midterms. A few days is enough for Americans to forget all about the last 2 years. All they're doing is buying time. Its getting expensive, but they have no choice because time is the hottest commodity and in extremely short supply.
The USFed have no better options than raise rates from here on.
