Very informative. Thanks!
These guys all stabbed Alexander in the back. None of his "friends" were loyal. They stole and killed his heritage.
Ptolemy, in the thumbnail, reminds me of Kieth Richard’s. The memes about him do imply he’s been around for ever. Maybe he really has!?
Don’t listen to sub Saharans and their revisionist history. Total nonsense
Thanks for sharing your great knowledge
The Greek dynasty that ruled Egypt for generations, the Ptolemies, were the best they ever had as leaders. Cleopatra VII nearly controlled Rome during the Roman Civil War… until it blew up in her face
was the ancient egyptian people of negro race
I've always been intrigued by Ptolemy and his relationship with Alexander. He left something that lasted a very long time. It should be noted that not all of the Egyptian dynasties were related to one another. Some of the DNA was related to the peoples of the Levant. Not sub Saharan. Tho the Nubian Pharaohs were of Sub Saharan peoples. (They have a unique history all of their own). The Nile at one time was not united, it was of Upper and Lower Egypt each with its own Pharaoh. I believe it is very important for people to study Ancient Egyptian history to understand its impact. Even more important to learn Hieroglyphics. Of which I do study. I accept Cleopatra Vii was of Macedonian DNA. The Ptolemy dynasty was very interbred, sister to brother, and although people have stated that Some of the wives of the Ptolemies may have been Sub Saharan, that flies in the convention of their society. The upper nobility of Ptolemy Egypt were Macedonian soldiers that followed Ptolemy to Egypt. They did not marry outside of their Greek bloodlines, in an effort to keep the blood pure. This was a common belief of the time. We see it over and over in Royal marriages not in Ancient Egypt, but in Medieval Europe as well as other times in history.
Your history stories are extensive…sometimes it provides biography of several people or civilizations as it explains the biography of a single person.
Ptolemy had the sense to claim and fort up in the country ‘at the edge of the map’ and while he did some fighting and the Nubians and Libyans might do some raiding, realistically his truly dangerous enemies could only come from the sea to the north or the desert to the east.
I'm glad you covered the life of Ptolemy I Soter. Just started watching your video so you may cover this later in the video: As far as I'm aware he initiated the Library of Alexandria, a symbolic act of preservation and enlightenment. He also commissioned the Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. He must have been a very savvy person (Or a master manipulator) or knew how to build friendships in high places. An example of this is that he took on the name Meryamun Setepenre, meaning “Beloved of Amun, Chosen of Re,” aligning himself with native religious traditions. This helped him gain legitimacy and affection among Egyptians. Your video is very interesting. It's nice to learn more about the names and places that allowed these rulers to be successful in their reign. 🙂
Damn video is gonna get me playing AC origins again😓
For us black people Alexander the Greek and Ptolemy were the first European conquerors to step foot on our land and created the first two white Gods my people have ever been forced to worship starting with ZeusAmon then Serapis all the way to Jesus of Nazareth. This is the chronology of my people’s destruction and enslavement💪🏾💯
I used to play a game (assassin creed) and they even referenced pyolmy in there?
Thanks to the frist ptolemy pharaoh to make egypt 🇪🇬❤️🇪🇬 an independent state
Black Africans pretending they have history 😂
I am really like this video about the first pharaoh of Egypt as Ptolemy I Soter, he was a general of Alexander the Great's army, it is likely that I did not expect who was he in the past.. Well, anyway. That can be a fascinating story. Okay, please make next video about Ptolemy II Philadelphus, if that ok. Thanks. By the way, have the wonderful weekend!!
Cleopatra grandfather?
Alexander was bad at judging who to trust.
