MANILA, Philippines — Ahead of the official start of the campaign period for the May 2025 elections, President Marcos on Friday made a pitch for his own Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP).
“Our PFP members and candidates are of high caliber. We in the PFP leadership will always say: no one among our candidates should lose because we have the best,” the President said at the PFP Leaders’ Convergence Summit held at the Manila Hotel on Friday afternoon.
Mr. Marcos, the party’s national chairperson, said the PFP, during the campaign period, should let voters know that the PFP has the most suitable candidates for public office.
“We have gathered, I believe, the best people and the most effective public servants in the Philippines under our umbrella group, here in the PFP and in the alliance,” he said.
Mr. Marcos went on: “Our opponents cannot claim that our candidates are weak, incompetent and lack knowledge. There’s no one like that among the PFP, or the alliance.”

Among the administration senatorial bets who attended the PFP summit were former Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos, Sen. Francis Tolentino and ex-Sen. Manny Pacquiao—all PFP members.
In September last year, Mr. Marcos announced the administration’s senatorial candidates which included members of the PFP, Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD), Nationalist People’s Coalition and the Nacionalista Party (NP).
Other senatorial bets running under the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas are: Sen. Pia Cayetano and Las Piñas City Rep. Camille Villar from the NP; Sen. Bong Revilla and ACT-CIS Rep. Erwin Tulfo of Lakas-CMD; and Sen. Lito Lapid, former Senators. Vicente Sotto and Panfilo Lacson, and Makati City Mayor Abby Binay of the NPC.
The campaign period for the 2025 midterm elections will officially start on Feb. 11.
The President also assured the PFP’s candidates for national and local elective positions that they party will do everything to help them secure their victory.
“As to the results that we want, of course we’re always eyeing a 12-0 slate in the Senate. And for local candidates, we should win 100 percent because we have the best in our local candidates,” he added.
