There is no doubt at all that both of the Montbattens were larger than life personalities and certainly among the most heroic figures of the Twentieth Century. The extraordinary clear thinking, organizing, and accomplishments of royals like Edwina and "Dickie:" , and any others like them, should be in separate History books of that singular time. Their stories are more amazing, ironically, than fiction.
Thanks for the WW II lesson. This was just an ode to Mountbatten's military career. There was almost nothing about his personal life or why you called him "The Kingmaker". Mountbatten was personally responsible for the marriage of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip. There was nothing about the scandalous statement that he made about The House of Mountbatten instead of The House of Windsor when Phillip tried to refuse the name Windsor. And very little about the scandalous boys home rumors. Instead we got a WW II history lesson and a (very) long summation of Mountbatten's mediocre Navy career. I've re-watched several royal profiles from this channel but I'd rather watch paint dry to see this episode again.
