People like lady Jane Austin you wish they lived longer, to enjoy success. It saddens me that she only lived to 41. Rest in peace
Check your facts. Her identity WAS known before her death.
It is very gratifying to see the celebration of Jane Austen on the BBC -in particular with reference to Persuasion. Read this book and you will see that she has no need for explicit sexual description – for sheer sensuality, Jane Austen takes the biscuit.

Jane had insight into human nature, and she was able to portray her characters as multifaceted personalities. She devloped her characterizations through their inner thoughts and dialogue. She was a literary genius.

From Leicester, UK. How is everyone's day?
This account of Jane Austin has been much more informative than any other I have read or listened to. Thank you so much. My favorite is Pride and Prejudice. I watch it (the 1995 series) often and listen to the Audio book at least once a month.
Fabulous Jane Austen ❤🎉
YEEEEEEESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!! JANE AUSTEN 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
The revelations of internal thoughts in her characters gives voice to women. And I can identify with the burdens so often placed on them. All of this and the intelligent reparte make her works fully satisfying and instructive.
What a pity the narrator 's voice is soooo annoying!

I love Jane Austen. Infact one of my emails is JaneAusten
Lmao the close up of the chompers was a CHOICE
I’m a true Janeite and have read and reread her books and seen the many TV and film adaptations of those works. I always enjoy learning new facts about Jane Austen’s life and work.
The video clips that showed actors dancing, etc had the actors in clothing from the 1860’s and not the period from 1795-1825 that is “Regency” clothing. The illustrations were spot on because of the illustrator Hugh Thomson studied the period in depth. FYI It was very jarring to see that.
Thank you for the Jane Austen documentary. I have been in Awe of her while hearing the story. Prehaps the stories were in her head, any messages may have shown thru, one can only know what they know, but imagination can devide and concur what we do not know. All women wanted to be equal to men, respected by them. I now have to read her work, because you got me curious, and I always have to feed my curiosity. She died awfully young. I agree to marry for love, though it is not to complete a person, it is to be with the one you love. I feel for the women of old having to marry to survive. I married for love, and it wasn't easy, but easier to cope with each other.
Jane Austen is my favourite writer I studied it it in a school and I am still reading about her even I read her biography and we visited her beautiful home Chawton –
so lovely to think of her how she lived in her home, if only, she had lived longer, one wonders how many more master pieces she might have written. Jane Austen was an amazing writer with a beautiful mind and imagination, She was ahead of her time, lived loved her innocent ways but unfortunately her health, sickness was catching up, so sad every time I read about it i can't help thinking if only ,,,,……..🙏.👍👍👍♥👏👏💯🙏
🇬🇧 I listen to Pride and Prejudice every night in bed . The subtle nuances and descriptions. Marvellous
After the retirement and death of her father, Jane, her sister and mother had to leave the rectory where they had lived for years. The rectory and its contents would be taken over by her brother and sister-in-law. And the “contents” included Jane’s treasured books and the writing desk given to her by her father when she was a young girl. Loss of home, loss of a parent, loss of income and possessions — Jane Austen had sufficient experience to depict the financial and societal hardships of women.
As a writer ✍🏾 myself I find this very very interesting. Thanks for the inspiration.
I've been waiting for this one! Nice to find out more about my favourite author 🎉

Men didn't wear wedding bands back then 😉
Spectacular biography on one of my favorite authors of all time. I loved Mansfield Park and have read it several times in my 61 years.
You should cover rotha Lintorn-Orman.
My favourite books of hers are P&P, S&S and Persuasion. I couldn’t complete Emma and Mansfield Park.

Excellent !
New drinking game; take a shot every time the narrator says "Epistolary."
Can you perhaps do an episode about Aleister Crowley? 😊
