What’s with the fact that most of general secretaries of the Soviet Union were from or had family from Soviet Ukraine, I find that very ironic
The ironic thing is Gorbachev was a communist that got the peace prize and barak obama got it for being a democrat and trump is trying to get it. A man that was some what respected on the world stage for trying to calm down the cold war but was not liked at home in russia. He didnt get a state funerial but stalin got one and he purged millions of russians. It wild how such turn of events happens in the world.
It’s not as if all these former Soviet satellites had to be wrenched away from Mother Russia’s loving arms. They RAN away from them. Being under the thumb of a communist dictatorship tends to do that. They wanted protection FROM Russia – as we see today, for good reason.
He was the agent of Western Powers who actually arranged the Funeral of the Communism, there is a simple fact of the history that whenever a nation acts against their ideology, it actually burns away the whole system.
Thanks for putting this together.
Interesting. Love these Docu’s
He is liked in America and Western Europe but in Moscow, they know he was a sell out.
psssst quik snip ebay pharmers eagle claw earrings
Respect to this man for trying to make Russia a better place. Sadly all his hard work seemed to have been all for nothing
No mixed feelings here. Gorby was a unique opportunity to alter our world for the better. I cannot think of any other person who came so close to a future without the nuclear threat hanging over our heads. And today, we have the steady march to nuclear disaster. Regan's role set us on the final path to destruction, and only a crazy man, like Trump, will lead to our demise
.
39:29 The USSR had endured many tragedies before, so under normal circumstances the Chernobyl disaster could have been relatively easy to censor. But under glasnost, the flow of information became uncontrollable. Public frustration grew, and people began to crave change some even pushing for independence. If Gorbachev had taken a different approach to reform, the USSR might still have preserved its survival. Disasters like Chernobyl were unavoidable, but it became a political breaking point. From that moment, protests spread across the Eastern Bloc, and the Soviet leadership should have acted quickly to contain them at home.
1:08:01 I think he could have reformed the Soviet Union if he had slowed down. He should have resolved the war in Afghanistan first, then repaired the country’s foreign relations as a leading Cold War adversary. His major mistake was introducing perestroika and glasnost in a way that gave excessive transparency, criticism of the government, and democratization. Instead, he should have focused on strengthening the economy through price control, education reform, and reintroducing the NEP to revive growth.
Military spending should have been reduced, with funds redirected toward production, jobs, and domestic supplies. Land redistribution should have been limited to deserving rural farmers, effectively recreating kulaks, reversing Stalin’s harsh measures while leaning toward the policies of Lenin and Bukharin.
For the Warsaw Pact, he should have reinforced alliances, guaranteeing mutual aid against domestic unrest, while tightening security to contain protests or rebellions. He also needed a clear vision—whether he was reforming the USSR for survival or personal prestige. Lacking this, he betrayed the Soviet vision, with good intentions but disastrous results.
He should not have allowed Yeltsin or other liberal thinkers into the CPSU. Instead, he should have relied on the military for loyalty and support, and worked with conservatives to gain full backing for economic reform. The real key to holding the country together was strengthening Soviet authority domestically and abroad while granting citizens slightly more freedom than under Brezhnev. Core doctrines should have been reinforced and adapted, not abandoned, since Western-style democracy was incompatible with communism something even Deng’s China avoided.
With a slower, controlled approach, reforms could have succeeded, especially if Gorbachev had prepared a loyal successor to carry them forward. Any attempt to disobey or infiltrate the CPSU should have been purged. Of course, problems would still have arisen similar to Tiananmen (1989), the Velvet Revolution, the Singing Revolutions, or the January Events. In such cases, Khrushchev’s and Brezhnev’s doctrines of containment and total control should have been enforced to guarantee security.

Thank you for this film.
But You have made a mistake in the video regarding dates. For example: Gorbachev's meeting with Reagan in 1993, the Chernobyl disaster in 1996. All these events took place between 1983 and 1986.
SOVYETLER BİRLİĞİNİN AMERİKAYA SATAN ADAM! 📚📚📚📚📚
Gorbachev was the President, not the Premier.

Terrible President
Sad, something induced him a heart failure, three months after the small military operation. His house had only one floor.
He had voiced his hopes that Putin would not enter wars.
The man who laid the framework for WW3.
