How come Poseidon didn't roam Scyalla's waters then? I guessed he cursed her & stayed far away from her territory. But he'd have no reason to fear her, unlike Circe.
I really hate that the video says he feel in love with her. No that's called lust. You can't love someone you don't even know. This whole story is sad.
This has an error.. it says that glauco went to Aiaia (Circe's island) to talk with Circe.. but.. i understand that Circe was exiled to that island beecoouuusee of the drink she made for Scillya (as punishment) The rest is accurate .. but.. like.. what(?
Just been reading Madeline Miller's book 'Circe', in which there is an intelligent and newly-told version of this myth. I would recommend reading Miller's version, as well as the traditional myth, as documented in this video, so you get background to Scylla's and Charybdis's presence in the myths of Jason and the Argonauts, and the Odyssey.
To be honest if I tried to get a love potion from a sorceress and the Sorceress has interest in me I would most likely realize the person that I'm trying to get doesn't like me but instead the Sorceress likes me I'm going to choose the Sorceress.
Glaucus, when will you ever learn? You can’t force someone to love you for yourself. Because you’re not the god of love and passion. And you’re not in charge of other people’s feelings, desires or actions, except your own.
I'm nearly impressed that in one video they managed to pronounce almost every single name incorrectly. Syclla is not pronounced "Sie la" its pronounced more like "Silla" (written phonetically not literally), Glaucus is pronounced like its written. "Gl au cus" not "Glockus" and Charybdis isn't pronounced "Shar dees" (Where on EARTH did they get that??) its pronounced "Kar rib dis", again, far closer to how its actually 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘭𝘵. An otherwise interesting myth though, and the artist did a very good job illustrating it. Just a shame that the voice over guy they got couldn't be bothered to check any websites or do a tiiny bit of googling to find how these greek names are pronounced and butchered them as a result.
Circe’s mother is a sea nymph & father is Helios (the sunk). Oceanus & Tethys are her maternal grandparents. It is absurd to think that there is anything in the sea Circe wouldn’t have ever seen.
This is not the legend. Circe loved Glaukus whom she made into a sea God from mortal, cause he was miserable. After that he became obsessed with other nymphs and cared no more for Circe. Scylla was a typical ‘mean girl’ who bullied Circe throughout her childhood and when Circe found out Glaukus wanted to marry this mean nymph, she turned her into a monster. The story is how Scylla was on the inside the monster she turned into later. Idk where do you guys get this story about ‘poor Scylla’ anyway…
This is why people should be careful of those they reject. It also shows how innocenr peoole can suffer horribly from other peoples actions. Poor scylla.
I thought Scylla was just born a monster, to Phorcys and Keto. I feel like the Greek stories always try to add depth to monster characters like Medusa and Scylla

Now he's going to live with that guilt
Scylla is also the daughter of Hekate, Goddess of witchcraft, sea, the heavens.

The show Prison Break was my introduction to Scylla. In one season, there were 6 USBs containing a lot of secrets. Codename scylla

Poor Scylla she didn’t deserve what Circe did to her
I wonder if she has been ever killed
Do Charybdis' Backstory, please. 🙏 ❤
I came here after reading "Circe" 😂
Amazing book by the way.

It kinda reminds me of the tale of Little mermaid
When u gone do charydis back story , like u did this 1 of scylla , how she is poseidon and scylla.
Oh this is where the idea of mermaid kelp probably comes from in the sims…

And then she formed a band with her siren freinds and lived happily ever after
Fair enough,
he was just in love with the beauty she possessed (men will be men) indeed!
Greek mythology gave me a reality check
Glaucus was so close to self awareness
Glaucus should have appealed to Aphrodite, the goddess of love.
That green hair looks awfully brunettish
thanks this really helped me with my homework
To think Godzilla King of the Monsters took Scylla and changed her from a 6 headed kraken to a giant Cthulu-looking spider
My profile picture is the reverse of my ancient Greek coin with Scylla minted in 300 BC. Very rare
Wow, it's staying where the work that I heard this before.Oh I know medusa medusa had the same fate or almost the same fate
Poor Scylla
Lesson: Don't force yourself on someone who doesn't love you by heart

"Scylla on the Rocks" sounds like something I would order at a bar. 😂

Bruh imagine thinking that cthulian horrors beyond recognition aren’t hot.
Sounds about right. A god fall in love and the girl(sometimes guy) suffers for it.
