Ethiopia is among the hardest-hit countries in terms of deadly traffic accidents. Trains and trucks circulate along infrastructure from another age. For trucks in the south of the country, the transport of goods and people take place in the rain and on slippery roads… There is, however, no alternative, as flying is too expensive and the trains are no longer in working condition, except one. This one train travels through half of the country, from the city of Dire Dawa to the border at Djibouti. It travels 310 kilometres over the course of more than 10 hours – on a good day. This last known working train is no stranger to derailments and breaks down on a regular basis. It is the oldest but also the most dangerous train in the world! From the Danakil desert to the rainy summits of the Kaffa region, welcome to Ethiopia!

Did you know that slavery was only ended in Ethiopia in the 1930s when the Fascist Italians ended? It took Fascists invading their country to finally end slavery and free some half a million slaves
Alot of hardwork and afford was put into making those documentaries. Keep up the good work to all who are involved.
The country Italy could not colonize.
Știți de ce nu sa schimbat nimic de când gara a fost construită de francezi??? – Este pentru că a trebuit ca Etiopia să plătească prețul gări ×100 sau chiar mai mult pentru tot ce francezi sau alți au făcut acolo.
Allaha bless ethiopia
Does anyone know what the music is that starts @6:12? Really enjoyable
Beautiful ❤️ people indeed
not all Ethiopian chew chat.
i love Ethiopia from kampala
almost all Ethiopians chew khat? bro wuattt lol I am from Ethiopia and i can tell you that is a wrong statement. it is considered as a drug(which it is) a bad habit, even as a taboo in most places .. Ethiopia is a big country and almost all people in few regions(like diredawa and Harar which combined are home to 1% of the total population mind you) chew khat because for some reason the drug it intertwined with their culture.. thats not to say there are no khat users in the rest of the country, but rarely.
Can we take up a collection to buy these people a locomotive? I'd chip in on that
It’s truly surprising how everything was framed through such a somber perspective. You visited Harar—one of the most vibrant, UNESCO-recognized cities known for its rich culture and peaceful legacy—yet chose to focus on an aging car and its driver. You stood in the awe-inspiring landscape of Dalol, but showed only the toil of salt miners. And the train—when was this filmed? Because it no longer looks that way.
Ethiopia is a country of breathtaking beauty and resilient, golden-hearted people. Earning a living hasn't been hard enough for us to travel abroad and capture only the worst to get click bait. There’s so much more here, if only you chose to see it.
Ethiopia is worse now
Watching these really makes me thankful I'm an American. It seems like the rest of the world is practically in the dark ages, still that's crazy people
I was here on 18/july/2025
Do they get weekends off and paid yearly vacation?
Thankyou lord for everything i have
404, when Peugeots were still reliable…
That man is so creative to make that cart to push the water in! I want to try that.
Just to be clear, 100% of Ethiopia’s population has access to drinking water.
Very beautiful people the Ethiopians……they have also gentle behavior…..I see decency often.
Fascinating documentary. Well done!
I love that James Bond type music at 30:40
Это всё что сделали западные колонизаторы
India : No one can have worse trains than us
Ethiopia: Hold my beer
Ethiopian rail built in 1917 could not be the oldest railway. In Southern Africa most railways were built in the 1890s.
i wonder how much trump tarifed them
Young Boy: "It's not dangerous we do it all the time (hangs off side of train)"
Same Young Boy: "I had a friend who died from doing this (hanging off the side of train)"
watching the people sell & chew kath just before the narrator mentions how its a drug & prohibited in france highlights the absurdity of prohibition, and its true purposes. if prohibition of plants was about peoples safety, then explain to me why france has legal alcohol use? the reality of all western drug prohibition is lobbyists who work for drug makers, bribed politicians to outlaw it. the US scheduling is SO absurd its even worse than that. Nixons advisor who worked with him on implementing drug prohibition in the 70's admitted it was purely to stop their competition from getting elected, since so many smoked weed & used psychedelics and LSD. that is the truth of drug prohibition, its purely about control , money & power
No i proszę z pod plandeki wyglądają same inżyniery
Ethiopian women are so f beautiful, just my opinion, it's always first thing I notice in documentary movies about Africa
nice
Took a train constructed in 1917 imn the middle of the. Night in Egypte in 1989 i was 19 .It was freezing cold in January.
Strange wording to frame colonization as corporation Im sure it felt like that to the French.
50:20 The horses are 7, of the Lord Suryadev (Sun in Sanskrit). One of them was Uthup renamed Itiop which made Ethiopia
What a shit hole.
She is beautiful
I can't understand people's mentality. I have 2 young kids as a single father in Australia. It is so expensive and was before the divorce. This man has 6 children and what set of thoughts went through his mind before creating more than 1? This is exactly what keeps 3rd world the 3rd world.
Let's send a group of little shit heads who say their life in the states is unbearable to Ethiopia for 6 months
Am a Kenyan and never been out of Kenya but this documentaries make me feel that have been around the world. Much Love Ethiopia from Kenya
Ignore the misleading narratives from the propaganda machine. Ethiopia has had an electric railway for over eight years, and it's clear that this reporter chose to overlook that fact. The train currently in focus is out of commission, and we've long ceased using that track—this misinformation misleads viewers. Even though we are top five countries that have electric trains in Africa
We take pride in our capabilities, including the assembly of electric vehicle tracks, minibuses, and cars, all thanks to our strong cooperation with China.
Moreover, we have thousands of kilometres of modern highways and the largest hydro dam in Africa. Yet, Western reports consistently fail to highlight the rapid development taking place in Ethiopia.
Thanks
🙄 aber eine von die modernsten Flugzeuge flotte der Welt haben die 🙄🙄🙄😂😂
what's funny is how reporters find the worst side only, when ever they make documenter about Africa.
I can barely survive, so I have 7 kids.
