I'd like to point out that in some versions it's Zeus who is the third in the love triangle.
Hyacinth was a beautiful young man from Sparta, loved by both Zeus and Apollo.
According to myth, Zeus and Apollo both fell deeply in love with Hyacinth, who was known for his extraordinary beauty and charm. However, their love for him was not equal, and a rivalry developed between the two gods.
Apollo, who was also Hyacinth's teacher and mentor, was deeply devoted to him. He taught Hyacinth the arts of music, poetry, and prophecy. Apollo's love for Hyacinth was pure and selfless, and he wanted to be with him forever.
Zeus, on the other hand, was more possessive and jealous in his love for Hyacinth. He wanted to keep Hyacinth for himself and was wary of Apollo's influence over him.
One day, while Apollo and Hyacinth were playing a game of quoits (a discus-throwing game), Zeus, in a fit of jealousy, threw a strong gust of wind that caused Apollo's discus to veer off course and strike Hyacinth on the head, killing him instantly.

I heard another version of this myth which makes it even sadder-:
(After Hyacinthus’s death) Apollo ran to Hades, begging him to bring Hyacinthus back to life, Hades refused, when that didn’t work Apollo ran to Zeus, begging him to make him mortal so he could die and join Hyacinthus, Zeus refused. Defeated, then he went back to Hyacinthus’s body where the Hyacinths grew from his blood.
