shiva being the destroyer is also considered the creator of yoga and meditation , he is always shown with a smile on his face .He is also called as bholenath which means the innocent lord. He is the only god who is worshipped by all the other gods, and living creatures and even demons.

Shiva is called the destroyer not because he destroys everything. He's a kind and benevolent god who shows undivided love towards his zealous devotees. He grants their wishes without knowing their intentions. Some of them turns out to be evil and use their powers for destruction. Since shiva being the nice god accept their mistakes as his own.
Some of his devotees who turned evil are Ravana, Naragasura, Pasphasura etc.
At those times, Vishnu takes different avatar to stop their evil doings became the Saviour god.
