Philip II: conquers Greece.
Greeks, 2300 years later: ‘Our proud king!’
That’s not history, that’s fan fiction with trauma bonding. 📖💔
The irony of modern Greeks claiming ancient Macedonians: that’s like Canada insisting on being Viking because Leif Erikson once stopped for snacks. 🇨🇦⚓
'Alexander was Greek!’ — Sure, and Julius Caesar was French because he conquered Gaul. That’s how this works now? 😂
Super informative, learned a lot.
Interesting and informative.
A man of his times.
This guy looks 'Greek' .. please correct this .. he was a beautiful Macedonian .. no such thing as 'Greek' back then.. modern day 'Greeks' are a mixture of Albanian and Turkish DNA .. can't argue with science. No more BS please.
No wonder he was called the Great. He never lost a battle.
what the fuck is it with this accent, change it
Absolute Gold.
If he was born in 356 bc how did he die in 323 bc – thats going backwards lol
Just googled it n thats wat i said when he was born n died.. very strange indeed as it should be the other way around if anything haha
Alexander the Great is the real life Aegon the Conqueror
Alexander was a mass murderer who rose to power after conspiring with his mother to have his father assassinated. Spreading Greek culture was the last thing on his mind. He was a sucker for the foreign and exotic and anything the didn’t remind him of his domineering mother. He campaigned relentlessly to avoid returning to Macedonia and her presence. His troops eventually got fed up with his power madness and his generals first poisoned his designated heir Hephastion. Al didn’t take the hint from this but went on planning his next adventure against Arabia. Subsequently he was himself poisoned on the next opportunity. He was known to kill out of spite as against Callisthenes, out of drunken rage as against Cletus the Black, and out of paranoia as against Parmenion and Philotas. His legacy was too despicable to his successors for them to do anything but then carve up his empire like a Thanksgiving turkey.

Fascinating one. Thanks for another great episode. I am curious though how come you felt the need to speculate about his sexuality 😂 in regards to sex, seems like anything goes in ancient Greece
In scholarly examinations of the relationship between ancient Macedonians and Greeks, a fundamental and decisive argument rests on the textual evidence provided by the historian Arrian. This evidence is not merely suggestive; it is direct and conclusive, challenging the very notion of a shared Hellenic identity.
Arrian's chronicle of Alexander the Great's campaigns presents a stark and unequivocal distinction. In his account of the Battle of Issus, he details a "violent struggle" and, more profoundly, asserts that the conflict was "further embittered by the OLD RACIAL RIVALRY of Greek and Macedonian." This is a definitive statement from a primary source, explicitly naming a racial animosity that renders the idea of a unified people untenable.
Furthermore, Arrian's Anabasis provides a second, equally compelling point of evidence. It records a specific instance where Greeks fought fiercely against the Macedonians in the Persian army at the Battle of Granicus. The subsequent capture and holding of Athenian citizens as prisoners of war demonstrates a clear state of hostility. This was not a family disagreement; it was a military and political antagonism that unequivocally establishes separate and often conflicting national identities. The historical record, through Arrian's own words, presents an unassailable case for the separate existence of the ancient Macedonians.

My middle name is Alexander after Alexander the Great. My grandpa gave me my middle name after I was born 9 weeks early and survived back in the early 90s with a trial medication to heal the holes on prem baby lungs
From this comprehensive genetic study of modern Macedonians, the most remarkable finding is the extraordinary preservation of Paleolithic European ancestry at 28.1% – representing nearly one in three Macedonian men carrying Y-chromosomes passed down in unbroken patrilineal lines for over 22,000 years. This is remarkable for several reasons:
1. Unprecedented Survival Rate
Most European populations lost much of their Paleolithic hunter-gatherer ancestry through successive waves of Neolithic farmers, Bronze Age migrations, and historical population movements. Yet Macedonians retained the highest documented frequency of this ancient lineage (I2 – 28.1%) anywhere in Europe.
2. Living Ice Age Heritage
These aren't just genetic markers – they represent direct patrilineal descent from the hunter-gatherer bands who survived the Last Glacial Maximum in Balkan refugia. Every Macedonian man carrying I2 (P215) has a Y-chromosome that has been passed father-to-son since before agriculture, before cities, before recorded history.
3. Defying Demographic Replacement
Despite being at the crossroads of Europe and experiencing major population movements (Neolithic farmers, Bronze Age peoples, Roman colonization, Slavic migrations, Ottoman rule), nearly 30% of Macedonian paternal lineages survived completely intact from the Paleolithic. This challenges traditional models of population replacement.
4. Continental Europe's Genetic Time Capsule
The study identifies I2 as "continental Europe's largest Mesolithic paternal lineage," and Macedonians carry the highest concentration of this ancient European heritage. They are literally living repositories of pre-agricultural European civilization. This 28.1% frequency represents one of the most direct genetic connections to ice age Europe found anywhere in the modern world – making Macedonia a unique genetic homeland where the bloodlines of Europe's first inhabitants still flow strongest after 25 millennia.
HORIBBLE, HORRIBLE Narrator voice!!!!! Could not watch!!!
He wasn't the greatest. He was a fool. No leadership skills and definitely not a king. Just a warrior who didn't know what else to do except wage wars
Wow, the way Alexander's impact is captured here really shows just how legendary his conquests were. It’s fascinating to see how ancient civilizations depicted such powerful moments in time!
❤"son of Philip, the Macedonian."❤
📜 The Old Testament & Apocrypha offer some fascinating historical insight on Macedonia!
In Daniel, prophecies describe it as the “kingdom of bronze” (Dan 2:39) and a “rough he-goat” (Dan 8:5)—clear allusions to Alexander the Great’s empire.
The books of 1 & 2 Maccabees, considered Deuterocanonical by some traditions, go further:
🔹 1 Macc 1:1 names Alexander as “son of Philip, the Macedonian”
🔹 2 Macc 8:20 highlights Macedonian mercenaries in action
Amazing how these ancient texts intertwine with history!
🔥 PLOT TWIST: Nearly 50% of Macedonian men today carry the genetic fingerprint of ancient Balkan warriors—fighters who roamed these rugged lands long before the Slavic migrations reshaped the region. From Illyrian fortresses and Thracian tribal networks to Paeonian battlegrounds, their blood pulsed through the heart of the peninsula. And among them stood the Ancient Macedonians, a formidable people who forged a kingdom that challenged empires and birthed legends.
🧬 Recent DNA analysis from royal tombs at Vergina (ancient Aegae)—the ceremonial capital of Macedon—revealed skeletal remains dating to 388–356 BCE, likely belonging to a male of the Argead dynasty, possibly even Amyntas III, grandfather of Alexander the Great. Radiocarbon dating, strontium isotope analysis, and ancient DNA extraction confirmed the individual’s elite status and Balkan origin, reinforcing the continuity of Macedonian royal bloodlines.
Alexander was the great amongst other kings and leaders But he hadn't have to build new empire while he just strengthened his dad's work.
But AMIR TEMUR did it from 0.
