ARMENIAN DUDUK AT GARNI TEMPLE
Our South Korean guests being entertained by the skillful Armenian Duduk player at the Garni Temple. Relaxing and heavenly!
Born in the early eons of Armenian history, the Duduk is considered the most “Armenian” of all folk instruments, because of its origins and its ability to express the soul of the Armenian people.
UNESCO proclaimed the Armenian Duduk and its music as a Masterpiece of the Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2005 and inscribed it in 2008. Duduk music has been used in a number of films, most notably in “The Russia House” and “Gladiator”.
Duduk is one of the most popular things people take home from Armenia. They are plentiful at Vernissage market, a weekend flea market next to Republic Square in Yerevan.
