End of American Power! The US Just LOST CONTROL OF EVERYTHING – Richard Wolff
Renowned economist Richard Wolff recently delivered a powerful critique of the current geopolitical landscape, highlighting the decline of European influence and the shifting dynamics of global power. According to Wolff, what we’re witnessing is nothing less than the subordination of Europe, a continent that once stood at the center of the world stage. For centuries—beginning with the Renaissance, through the colonial era, and into the early phases of capitalism and industrialization—Europe was a global powerhouse. But now, Wolff argues, Europe has become a “junior partner” to the United States. He described European leaders visiting the White House as if they were “children from a kindergarten,” sitting obediently before President Trump despite knowing, and often privately admitting, their disdain for him. This, he claims, is a profound historical humiliation, with Europe now resembling a colony more than a sovereign actor.
Wolff emphasized that this subordination is not just symbolic, but material—clearly seen in the recent trade agreements where the U.S. imposed a broad 15% tariff while European nations agreed to reduce their own, giving the U.S. economic advantage. These deals also require European countries to buy American energy, open their agricultural sectors, and invest in the U.S. economy. In return, they receive very little—demonstrating, in Wolff’s words, how “the colonial country has become the colony.” He argues that Trump’s administration is leveraging America’s declining empire status to offload its financial burdens onto allies. Europe, which once enjoyed robust social welfare systems made possible by relying on U.S. military protection, is now under pressure to cut those very benefits.
In his words, Richard Wolff paints this moment as one of profound historical transition. The American empire is in decline, yet it’s attempting to tighten its grip on its allies through economic coercion. Wolff commends Trump, somewhat ironically, for recognizing that endless spending on proxy wars like Ukraine is unsustainable. However, he warns that these geopolitical maneuvers come at a high cost—particularly to Europe’s social fabric and sovereignty. Wolff’s hope, though admittedly based on optimism, is that the European people—whether from the left or right—will reject this imposed subordination and reclaim their political independence. Otherwise, he warns, the next U.S. administration may take things even further, deepening the imbalance and further destabilizing the global order.

Texas alone could take on the majority of the militaries on planet Earth. What are you going on about America losing? Even if the US lay bare and defenseless, I could count on one hand the nations who could even attempt to take Texas, one state out of fifty. Or that the state would even cease to function in the event of total collapse. People are people…and you've got fifty states of people filled with terrible resolve, stubbornness, and resourcefulness in their own land.
