Fresno State sets schedule for 2025 commencement celebrations

Fresno State will host a lineup of annual festivities to recognize thousands of graduates as their families and friends join them to celebrate the culmination of their higher-education journey. 

Commencement ceremonies for Fresno State’s eight colleges and schools, along with several affinity celebrations, will take place May 16 and 17.

“I am so proud of our graduates. They continue to exemplify the resilience of Fresno State Bulldogs,” said Phong Yang, interim vice president of the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at Fresno State. “Commencement is a testament that our beginnings do not define us — it’s how we finish that matters. To our Bulldog graduates and their families, we thank them for making Fresno State a part of their journey, and for allowing us to celebrate this moment with them. I look forward to their amazing achievements.”

Commencement weekend includes the largest affinity celebration — the Chicano/Latino Commencement Celebration — from 7:30 to 10 p.m. May 17 at the Save Mart Center. As one of the nation’s largest Chicano/Latino celebrations, the Hispanic Serving Institution designation is emblematic of the rich culture and diversity that makes the Fresno State campus one of the most vibrant in the 23-campus California State University system. 

Fresno State proudly hosts several other affinity celebrations as part of the commencement weekend activities. Here is the schedule and the locations for the other affinity celebrations:

• American Indian Graduation Honoring and Celebration, 2 p.m. May 17, The Ruiz (Resnick Student Union, first floor).
• International Convocation, 2:30 p.m. May 17, Satellite Student Union.
• African American Student Recognition Ceremony, 2:30 p.m. May 17, Student Recreation Center, East Gym.
• Asian American and Pacific Islander Graduation Celebration, 4:15 p.m. May 17, Student Recreation Center, East Gym.
• Rainbow Graduation Celebration, 5 p.m. May 17, Student Recreation Center, Peters Education Center.
