I agree that this executive order is a big deal. I’m retired from Fidelity. Most 401(k) contributors are completely passive. They will literally contribute to a single diversified fund corresponding to their age range. And even those who are more involved normally follow the advice of an advisor. And many companies like Fidelity only allow investment in mutual funds in a 401(k), so bitcoin products that are mutual funds will have to be developed and approved or policy changes made to allow investment in non-mutual fund vehicles. Then advisors will have to recommend them, because most people won’t be in the know. So, it will be a while before the 401(k) train really gets started. Still a welcome move by Trump.
