“The reason the U.S. needs to print more money is because there’s a demand for it,” says Brent Johnson, CEO of Santiago Capital and creator of the Dollar Milkshake Theory. He tells Daniela Cambone that the petrodollar will not be jeopardized despite recent headlines. Johnson explains the history behind why Saudi Arabia began selling oil primarily in dollars in the 1970s and why this practice will continue. “Saudi Arabia has always had the option to sell oil in currencies other than the dollar. They do so to a limited extent, but even when invoiced in another currency, it’s still priced in US dollars,” he says. A surplus of US Government regulations and interventions, not a shortage of oil or gas caused the 1970’s crisis. Nixon invoking wage and price controls had far reaching distortions into the economy.

This guy doesn't get it. It is exactly because the US dollar is used to control the world – why so many countries want to get off it the dollar system. The US has NOT been benign. This didn't just start. These things have gone on for decades. The only difference is now Russia and China are able to not just militarily – but economically protect other countries.
Anyone who says "less dollars" instead of "fewer dollars" frankly isn't worth listening to. It's like "aksing a question."

US has been using this and its reserve status to extract a high transactional cost

So the incentive to move away from dollar is higher than that to remain in existing system

The milkshake is becoming like the McDonald's shake machine. Sometimes it's working but you better have a backup plan so you don't hold up the line.
Brent still doesn't get it. The dollars only rise if people continue to struggle to try to pay back their dollar debts. If they just go forget it its not worth it lets just default. Then the dollar will become worthless.
All the rest of the world struggling under the weight of their dollar debts have to do is to say hey restructure this debt at this ratio to our own currency which we can print or get nothing back. Then they force convert all their USD debts to local currency and default on all the rest. Then afterwards they will be cut off from dollar financing and will have to barter for everything they need but this will at some point be no worse than trying in futility to pay their dollar debts back. Once countries go this way there will be no way back. Demand for dollars and commerce with the US will fall through the floor which in turn means the US will crash and burn.
It was US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger who negotiated the deal to create the so-called petrodollars.
